BAJA Rehab is life changer. My son has battled with addiction for over 15 years. He has been in and out of In-patient rehabs nearly a dozen times. Relapsing in most cases immediately after discharge or deciding to discharge himself specifically to go use. The longest stretch of sobriety being 120 days. Likewise, he has been in and out of Sober living homes a dozen times. During the last 4 years he was homeless when not in a program or a sober living home. This was probably 60% of the time or greater. Those last four years were the worst. He suffered greatly from methamphetamine induced psychosis. His time in programs and sober livings homes during this time was most often very short lived, 30 days or less. He did make it 90 days in one sober living home but just as things seem to be going good the Psychosis overwhelmed him and convinced him it was time to leave. In California, there was no way to convince him to stay in a program long enough to dull the psychosis. When the voices told him to leave, he would leave and go back to the streets, and I had no authority or options to stop him. The psychosis had become so bad that his mother and I were trying to find some way to get him into a mental health program but even that proved futile. Then, after much prayer a friend sent me an email with a link to Baja Rehab. It seemed too good to be true. I spoke with Adam, one of the owners, and was delighted by what I heard. Although still a bit costly, it is a fraction of what you would pay put of pocket in the United States. I believe that the level of care at Baja is better also. The program includes on site nurses for medical support, counsellors to coach him through the 12-step program and regular therapy and psychiatric support. His therapist Jimena was wonderful and met with my wife and I weekly to support us and provide status on our son’s progress. As well as facilitate phone calls with our son. My son stayed 8 months at Baja. The first few months were difficult, and he was not pleased when he realized he could not walk out. Time was what he needed, and Baja ensured he got it. He has been back in California for 2 months now. He is 10 months clean, which is the longest sobriety he has had in 17 years. The day after he was released from Baja, he confided in me that although he hated it the first few months he knows it was probably the best place I could have sent him. He also said he probably should have stayed longer but was happy to be out. I am hopeful. Although I know anything can happen and nothing is guaranteed, Baja has given him his best chance to date to change his life. I am very grateful for Baja Rehab! Our son had a severe drug addiction. He had been using opioids for 15 years, and he was a daily user of fentanyl for 7 years. His father and I were basically waiting for the call that he was gone, forever. We paid for two inpatient rehabs in the states over those 7 years and, before that, many outpatient facilities and private doctors prescribing Suboxone, etc. He walked away/quit everything we ever tried within a week or two. We didn't think there were any other options. We didn't have the money to pay for another inpatient rehab in the states, plus we knew what the outcome would be; the same as it had been before. We found out about Baja Rehab. Of course, we had the same reservations everyone has. Is Mexico safe? How will we get him there? Will the treatment be at the same standards as in the states? Will they keep him safe, medically speaking, during detox? Because this was the only thing left to try that was even remotely affordable, we took the leap and somehow got him to agree to go. We said whatever we needed to to get him there, whether is was entirely truthful or not. My son spent four months there. It is a locked facility, which, in my opinion, is the key. I guarantee you that my son would have walked away within a week or two, if he could have. And he definitely tried, over and over. The facility proved to be 100% secure. Now that I have lived through the hell of loving a fentanyl addict, I am absolutely certain that the locked down aspect of Baja Rehab is what is key to getting a fentanyl addict in particular sober. The withdrawal was such hell on him, he would have done anything to end it, but he couldn't, and that was the thing that set Baja Rehab apart from any rehab in the states. He gradually started thinking clearly and feeling better emotionally and physically. After four months, the staff found him an amazing sober living in San Diego to transfer to. It's a house where he feels safe and comfortable. He is working, sober, has a sponsor, and is going to a weekly meeting. If you feel like you've tried everything available to help your loved one, and nothing has worked, and you're out of options, you just might try one more: Baja Rehab. I want to thank all of the staff that worked with my son. I know he wasn't very pleasant a lot of the time in the early weeks, but you all were amazingly patient and consistent with him. I am so thankful for the dedication and caring attitude of Adam and all of the staff at Baja. I made the trip in January 2023 from Georgia to San Diego to try to get my son help after being in psychosis for 8 months (lost 80 lbs in 4 months) and after we landed in San Diego he bolted. I had to return to Georgia not knowing if I would ever see him again. Three days later I got a call from the San Diego PD that my son was in custody and was being transported to a hospital. Our 19-year-old son just spent 4 months at Baja Rehab. This is the best decision we could have ever made for him. We are so thankful for the initial comforting phone calls with the director encouraging us from the very first inquiry to the unlimited texts and calls of support while we made the long drive to Baja. The scariest part is what we had formed in our own minds about outside appearances and the location Mexico. It turns out the location was one of the many keys to his success. Something completely unique to Baja Rehab and one of the critical factors in helping our son get through detox and recovery is that he could not leave the program while his body and mind was clouded by substance abuse making it dangerous to allow him to make healthy decisions for himself. We were concerned that this program would be appropriate for our son as he also had some unique challenges outside of substance abuse. They readily adapted to his unique needs, personalizing his treatments, making us feel completely relieved knowing he was safe and well cared for by round the clock professional staff. The whole person was treated during recovery with a very structured schedule: psychiatry, psychology, yoga, meditation, exercise, nutrition, his favorite; beach outings, twelve step meetings, and many group and individual therapy sessions. We were intimidated driving through the gates for our first family visit as the rules are strict, but that quickly disappeared as we were greeted with such warmth. I stayed the course with Baja Rehab for about six months and just got out a few months ago. I’m still sober, I transferred to a great sober living in the states and have a sponsor who I was fortunate enough to connect with in Mexico! We took our 22 year son to Baja after 17 stays in US rehabs, where he ran every time. From the moment I spoke with Adam (owner), I knew this was where our son needed to be. I went to Baja rehab over a year ago now, for their three month program. i was scared, but it was the best decision i made in my life. Adam and his staff work hard to show recovering addicts there is a way to be sober, and they take you out (water park, beach, horseback riding, bowling, etc) to show you you could be sober and have fun. they take you to meetings outside of the rehab, and have a good scheduled routine to keep busy throughout the day, that includes meditation, check-ins, informative videos, and some fun. they have a store you could buy snacks from, and they have amazing chefs. the program itself is great, and you could tell Some of the staff really cares. I had a wonderful experience at Baja Rehab. I had hit rock bottom. With the help of the program and the wonderful staff. I was able to recover. My psychologist and my counselor worked together and made a game plan for me and it worked. Adam one of the owners is amazing. The doctors and nurses are caring and very professional. I am on a special diet and the chefs made me special meals daily. They have great bon fire meetings twice weekly. Exercise, yoga and Sunday outings. I never had to do anything but work on myself. I am truly great full for the treatment I received at Baja Rehab. I highly recommend this facility. One more thing, you get to look at the Pacific Ocean. Wonderful for daily meditation. I went to Baja Rehab in 2022 and it was the greatest decision ive ever made in my life. I was born and raised in San Diego and ive been in and out of residential treatment programs since i turned 18. Im 31 now. I am extremely grateful for the Director of the program Adam Lincoln and his knowledge about my disease. When i was going through treatment programs in the states, i would just leave and get loaded when the going got tough but at Baja Rehab i wasnt going to get that opportunity. I recently had the pleasure of staying at Baja Rehab, and I must say it was an incredible experience! The first thing that stood out to me was how casual and laidback the atmosphere was. Words cannot describe my experience with Baja rehab. At a time in my life when everything was a complete wreck and drinking alcohol WAS the ONLY priority in my life. My family and I turned to Adam and Baja rehab for help. Coming from the States it was a bit scary, the idea of going to Mexico for an extended period of time not knowing exactly when I’d be returning was not something that was easy for me to do. I’m sure glad I did. When I first got to Baja in May 2022 I was greeted by Baja rehab staff coordinator Juan and head security guard Saul, I was still drunk of the 2 month binge I had been on, they made me feel welcome and safe. Let me start off by saying this. If you’re tired of hurting and ready to change and get your life back, this place is here to help! I struggled with drugs, alcohol and mental health problems for about 13 years and went to a few different treatment places in the states, but never had an experience like Baja Rehab. I went in in June of 2022 and at that time my life was a disaster. They medically detoxed me and offered counseling and the staff really cared and was there to help through my really hard times. Don’t get me wrong this was the most difficult thing I’ve done in my life, but going down to Baja Rehab saved my life and gave me hope. I am blessed to say I have my life back, my family back and peace of mind.
