As a neurodiverse person navigating life with a connective tissue disorder (which means my joints have the structural integrity of overcooked spaghetti), I tend to approach new environments, especially high-energy fitness spaces, with a fair amount of caution. That said, this CrossFit gym genuinely surprised me in the best way possible.I attend classes on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays due to my work schedule, and have had the pleasure of working with Coach Sarkis and Coach Anna, both of whom are exceptional. They are kind, attentive, and truly adaptive in their coaching. They take the time to understand where you’re coming from physically, neurologically, and emotionally, and they work with you, not against you. There’s no pressure to push harder just for the sake of intensity. If you need modifications, joint-friendly alternatives, sensory breaks, or just a moment to pause and reset, it’s not only allowed.. it’s respected. I never feel judged for needing a slower pace or for asking to review a movement more than once.Workouts are scalable, the atmosphere is energizing without being overwhelming, and most importantly, it’s a space where I feel safe, both physically and emotionally. I don’t have to mask or over-exert myself to belong. Its been a month, I still don’t love running, but I actually look forward to showing up, because I know I’ll be met with patience, humor, and a team that truly listens. If you’re neurodiverse, bendy, and a bit gym-shy, this place might just be the hidden gem you didn’t think existed.
