Fantastic location and easy walking to all the tourist spots , quiet although very small twin room. If you like old buildings you will not be disappointed. The only disappointment was the mattress, not comfortable and could do with a change . Staff extremely friendly .

The biggest highlight of our stay was definitely the service. Everyone we interacted with was incredibly friendly, helpful and welcoming. The staff were always happy to assist, greeted us with a smile and were able to answer our questions. It genuinely made a difference to the overall experience.The room was clean and had all the essentials. I particularly liked the pillow! We were three adults sharing, and it was absolutely fine for a short stay, although I think it would start to feel a little cramped for three people if staying for longer.A lovely touch was the complimentary Prosecco, cookies and bottles of water in the room. Small details like this made the stay feel much more welcoming.For breakfast, you need to choose a specific time slot. As we checked in quite late, the earlier times were already fully booked and 9:30am was the only option left for us. My only suggestion would be to ask guests for their preferred breakfast time in advance. We received a message confirming that check in was only available until 10pm, so it would have been helpful to choose our breakfast slot at the same time rather than waiting until arrival.Breakfast itself wasn’t particularly varied, but everything we had was delicious. Service was very quick, the portions were good and the latte was excellent.Overall, a very pleasant stay, but what really stood out was the staff. Every member of the team we encountered was genuinely lovely, helpful and welcoming, and that was easily the best part of our experience.

Stayed for two nights in room 18. The hotel is in a great location for seeing York, about 5mins walk from the Shambles.The staff were very friendly. Check-in/out and entering/leaving was quick and easy.Pros: The room was cute, safe and private - tucked away behind the hotel in the ‘mews’. It was a decent size and had everything we needed including tea and coffee.Cons: The bed was very hard. We could hear the upstairs neighbours stomping around late into the night. The bathroom - though clean - smelled quite strongly of mildew.

This is a fantastic place to stay. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, the room was clean, and the location was perfect. It's a quick, easy walk to most of the attractions and the area feels very safe.I stayed in the compact single room, and it was small, but it didn't bother me. There was still a desk and a closet. The bathroom did not feel too small. The TV was a Roku TV which was amazing! There was heat but no air conditioning.Would not hesitate to stay here again! 10/10

The location is central, and the staff is friendly. However, the floors are quite noisy in my room and from the neighboring rooms. I could hear people walking and using the bathrooms throughout the night, which made it difficult to sleep well. I also found the breakfast service inefficient, as I had to wait 20 minutes for breakfast. Finally, the stairs were very narrow and inconvenient when carrying luggage.

Went to a convention at York St John Uni, and it was in the perfect location for being closeby the uni, close to food shops, and closeby the train station. Nothing was very far! Only around 20 minutes maximum. Lots of nice sights around to wander too!Staff were friendly, kind and helpful.

We were able to spend three nights at the Georgian house. Near Bootham gate is our favorite place to stay when visiting York.LOCATION- Excellent. We walked from the train station and it only took about 10 minutes.ACCOMMODATIONS- Excellent. We got a small room but it had everything we needed. Clean. Decent bed. Great bathroom. Shower was strong and hot. We arrived with summer heat so it was a tad stuffy, but a fan was available in the room.SERVICE- Allen met us and it seemed like he was always there. Very kind and knowledgeable. So nice. We got the breakfast and it was very filling. The staff were very pleasant and they seemed like an upbeat family. Worked well together.Well done Georgian house!!

Really enjoyed our stay here in July my partner booked it, we stayed in the mews and couldn’t fault it at all - the room was large, clean and had everything we needed. All of the staff we interacted with were very friendly, pleasant and helpful. Breakfast daily was a treat with so many options. Walking distance to everything you could want to see in York, with the Minster only a few minutes away. Would 100% stay here again.

Attractive property let down by the fact they scattered ant powder all along the frontage. Ant powder generally contains talc which is often contaminated with asbestos. Not something you want when trying to enjoy a holiday break. Ants are much preferable to breathing in asbestos.

A wonderful place to stay in York. So close to York Minster and within walking distance to all the attractions in York. Excellent breakfast too. I can’t recommend the Georgian House and Mews highly enough. I am from Cape Town and this is my second time staying at this well-run hotel. Highly recommended.

Fantastic place, walking distance from major attractions, including the Minster. Had a room in the back - very quiet, very clean. Staff was very friendly and allowed me to check in a bit earlier and to leave my luggage after checkout next day. Highly recommend.

Great location - easy walk to all of the sights.Room was a little dated, but very clean and nice! It was also very quiet, which was appreciated. We also used the laundry service, which was great!
