I visited the Mint Room on Friday evening around 10pm after an excruciating journey from London to be told by the waiters that we have to hurriedly eat our food and leave the building at 11pm as they have âhomes to get toâ If I wasnât starving from our drive and knew we were limited for food options due to the time, we wouldâve easily made a u-turn at this point, but we decided to disregard the initial lack of hospitality presented by the waiter and sat down. I honestly did not think the 40 minutes in the restaurant could go from BAD to WORSE. We were told to RUSH our food order as the kitchen was closing (I donât understand why they seated us if they were closing the kitchen so soon) and then served with warm water and had to request ice. Our entire experience was rushed and brought to a quick halt with the most disgusting food and horribly presented dish. Our waiter incorrectly brought over plain naan that we hadnât ordered then attempted to blame us rather than taking accountability for his mistakes due to his hastily service. The waiter continued to be passive aggressive throughout the duration of our visit, and as it approached 11pm, FOUR waiters decided to hover around us to make us feel uncomfortable and gave us glaring stares which meant none other than LEAVE. Throughout my 26 years of living, I have never experienced such terrible Indian food, service, and a horrible end to my evening. I wouldnât advise my worst enemy to visit this restaurant and thatâs how strongly I feel about this review Iâve written as Iâm still in disbelief 3 days later. I hope this review deters people from visiting such an awful establishment. They do not deserve ONE PENNY of your hard earned money especially in a recession. I hope my comments are taken into consideration as feedback but this restaurant deserves to be shut down and replace all the staff and that awful menu because it was completely unauthentic and just disgusting. We had our coats taken and we were escorted to our seats. The restaurant had great decor and was eye catching with a unique but cosy interior. I ordered a lamb starter, which was very tasty, well presented and moreish. This was after poppadoms and dips! For my main course i has lamb Kadai, it was stunning and so filling. I thoroughly enjoyed it, it went down a treat with a peshwari Naan and coconut rice. Couldnât fault it at all, the service was top notch and the staff were on hand to keep our drinks topped up. I've been to the Mint Room twice before and absolutely loved it each time. I was excited to go again and got the tasting menu, though I was left disappointed. In sunmary, I expected bold, exciting flavours but found everything to be a little bland. I don't think I'll remember any of the dishes. To help describe what you can expect, I've posted photos of the menu and the food and will describe each. It started mediocre. The cold samosa was forgettable and didn't benefit from being chopped up. My poori ball had a hole in the bottom so couldn't hold liquid. The paneer was quite big and uninteresting too, though the olives were great. They didn't have rabbit so gave us lamb on our pancake instead. It was fine, though again a bit boring. The real problems started when we were told there was no monkfish, so we could choose between cod and salmon. We both chose salmon though after a long series of mixups and changes, and announcing the dish as salmon, we were given cod. It was hard, chewy and devoid of flavour other than the spices It was coated in. It left us wondering how they could mix up what they were giving us so many times. The palette cleanser was a small mellon and mint ice lolly with a berry sauce. This was a rare treat and was great. It took about 3 hours to get to this point of the meal. The portions so far had been small and we were a little worried we'd leave hungry. However, the main came with big, chunky sides that made up perhaps 60% of the overall meal. The main was lamb. Parts that were too rubbery to eat. The sides didn't really compliment it and seemed randomly selected. The menu promised a selection of Indian breads, which turned out to be just a naan cut into 4. I quite liked the dessert, but after getting the wrong fish, highly disappointing lamb, long delays and inconsistent portions, it wasn't enough to win me over. At least I knew I could look forward to the last bite - their signature chocolate covered mint leaf, leaving you with a delicious fresh taste that lingers for the rest of the evening. But no, my mint leaf was nothing like I'd had on previous visits. It was crinkled, dry and flavourless. I don't know if Mint Room has gone downhill, was having a bad day or just has a bad tasting menu, but I'll look elsewhere for fancy dinners from now on. Less
We booked for the New Year's Eve tasting menu, which was really lovely, beautifully prepared and presented, rich in flavours and with incredibly clever and inspired combinations. Loved it. Staff were attentive and charming and worked their socks off on what was a really busy night. Thank you to everyone at The Mint Room (Bristol) for a truly memorable and delightful evening.

This is going to be a difficult review. I am reluctantly giving four stars because when seen relative to the price, it is really only 3 stars - it was okay. The food and the drinks were absolutely fine, as was the service and the atmosphere. It just did not warrant paying about twice as much as in any other decent Indian restaurant in the area.

Fantastic authentic Indian food, of a contemporary style and much emphasis on presentation. This is a cut above the average âIndian Restaurantâ, and reflects its pricing. Somewhere to go perhaps for a special occasion rather than a âbeer and curry Fridayâ. I frequently visit both of their branches on such occasions.

We have eaten at the Mint Room a few times and our daughter also worked there when she was a student at Bristol University. The food was always exceptional, we had great service and the staff looked after my daughter as though she was family.

As ever Bath staff were friendly and welcoming the food was well presented interesting and delicious. Have dined as two or a party of 4 and all ways attentive.
I took the family as it was recommended and it didnât disappoint. We had a fantastic time, the food exceeded expectations and can not wait to return. Service was very good. The whole family enjoyed the experience. No negative issues were encountered.

This is my âGo Toâ Indian restaurant when Iâm in Bristol. Great, authentic Indian Cuisine, fabulous atmosphere and service. The main dishes were full of flavour and were not the usual fodder that some Indian restaurants serve. Highly recommended!

We came to Bath for the weekend and as my husband loves Indian food thought weâd try The Mint Room. What a delightful gem! We had the most fabulous meal and evening and have recommended it time and again. If you are in Bath, and like Indian food I urge you strongly to go!
I love going to the Mint Room. The food there is top notch and one of the best for Indian food that I have experienced. I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in flavouring a taste of India that is a cut above the rest.

We are visiting here after 4+ years. Atmosphere and service is top class, as always been. BIRIYANI here is the best in Bristol so far. Yenna kathrikka and coconut rice was a signature south Indian dish that we loved too. Mint cheese cake was great too. Added Mint room to our regular visiting restaurants list.
