I was not familiar with the NUCCA technique before seeing Dr Hansen. Months of chronic, non-stop neck and back pain along with debilitating migraines and zero answers from traditional doctors forced me to look for alternative forms of treatment. I was in a car accident where I had whiplash and developed a bone spur along with various other injuries to my neck and back. Traditional doctors wanted me to sleep with a back and neck brace and take tons of perception pills- this form of "band aid medicine" just did not seem like a long-term option for me. I tried yoga and massage with zero results and the pain kept getting worse. I was very skeptical when looking for chiropractic care. Dr. Hansen was extremely knowledgeable and detailed from my first visit. He took detailed x-rays and readings of my spine. After reviewing my x-rays- he created a treatment plan for me. The first adjustment was not at all what I expected, I thought I would hear bones cracking and so on... but that was not the case- instead Dr. Hansen measured my C1 and C2 vertebrae area and precisely and gently made a few adjustments on my neck. I thought... "that's it?" and I also thought "this is not going to work." However, as I drove away from that first visit, this intense feeling of anxiety that I did not even realize I had been having for over a year... lifted. I felt calm for the first time in months. By the time I got home (15 min later) I was very sleepy and took a nap for 2 hours (which I never do). My neck was sore and the pain was lessoned but not gone that night. By the next day- I woke up to my busy life and it was round 5pm that night that my husband asked me how my neck was and I realized I had not even thought of my neck because it wasn't hurting nor had I reached for headache medication because I did not have one. I can only speak for myself and my experience... I came to Dr. Hansen through a referral from a person I trusted, but who had not been personally treated by Dr. Hansen. This was my initial mistake. I was experiencing severe back pain for the first time in my life and was desperate for pain relief. I came in for a consultation, and Dr. Hansen sold me a package for $2,300 for 30 treatments, that would run roughly four months' time. He promised that my spine would get back into alignment and that I would be out of pain. I asked if I could just do a single treatment type of visit, to see if I would like it, and then continue without buying a package. Dr. Hansen said he didn't really do that and that packages were the only option. In my desperation, I took a gamble and paid him $2,300 plus a $100 consultation fee. This is a lot of money for me, and I was expecting results. I am an active person who does Brazilian Jiu jitsu , surfs and hikes... I had not been able to do those things because of the severe back pain. A month and a half into the treatments, I lifted something not that heavy and my back went from feeling just a bit better to severe pain again. I explained this in detail to Dr. Hansen. Two months into the treatments, and there was no improvement. I was still experiencing severe back pain. At this point, I decided to get a second opinion from another chiropractor. The new chiropractor told me my hips were way off and that my alignment in general was off. Dr. Hansen told just recently told me my hips were just barely off and that the alignment was "holding." Recently, at three months into the treatments that obviously were not working , I was still in pain, and I asked Dr. Hansen for a refund of the remaining treatments. After making all my visits at Precision Spinal Care, I don't have to wear my bite-guard as often, tell myself to relax, concentrate and change my breathing, or sit up straight; I'm just doing those automatically now. I was extremely tense when treatment begun. Most visits I would close my eyes and let him do his thing adjusting the Atlas vertebra. If you really relax and control your breathing, you can really feel what is happening during the visit, and in the following weeks of scheduled visits, I could sincerely feel the difference. But what I really enjoy about Dr. Hansen is his full reports in explaining your progress, and letting you keep the documentation.
