Coach Jeff and Coach Jenny coached our 3 boys during 2024 while we were temporarily living in Edmonds. This was when they were at their previous gym (Kindred JJ), but this review is specifically about Coach Jeff and Coach Jenny.First of all, they do an EXCELLENT job of creating community and at instilling values in the kids. Coach Jeff is very knowledgeable and very personable. His teenage kids were also our kids coaches, and all three of our boys absolutely love them and their family, as do we.They organized many events, shared meals with us, and were just all around an absolute pleasure to be in community with. Our boys came into the gym with some previous experience, and they progressed tremendously during our year under Coach Jeff. Jeff soon approached me about having the 2 older ones joining the competition class, which was in addition to the regular classes, and invited them to join competitions. I believe we did 3-4 during 2024, and it was one of the best experiences our boys had. Our kids really liked and were motivated by the stripe and belt promotions and the encouragements (and discipline...burpees!) from the coaches.Jeff and Jenny are dedicated to their students, have amazing family and community values, and even though we only got to spend a year with them, we consider them dear friends.I cannot recommend them highly enough both as people and as jiu jitsu coaches, both for kids and adults. If you don't have experience with BJJ, I highly recommend it. For both kids and adults, it is a great outlet to learn self defense, confidence, develop physically and mentally, and it is especially a great way to be active during the dark, rainy PNW winters.
