The pros largely stopped there for me. I had Zoe as my therapist and I think she must be new or still in training, she was very timid and uncertain the whole time. She checked about the pressure and I asked her to go deeper but the entire session was basically just rubbing in some lotion, not actual massage therapy. I specifically indicated on my intake form that my goals for the session would be busting up knots and that previous massage therapists have used trigger point and neuro-muscular massage techniques that I've enjoyed - none of that was reflected in the outcome of my session. I believe in the importance of training and development of staff with real clients but that should be disclosed and consented to ahead of time. It certainly wasn't worth the price of the session in my view. I still tipped over 20% because that's just what I do. Zoe also sneezed and blew her nose during the service (which is human, 100% don't mind) and didn't excuse herself to wash her hands. She may have used hand sanitizer but this was discomforting considering it's sick season. I just gave up and zoned out until the massage was over and we could leave. My partner's service seemed to go better but he also misses our old spot before moving to Indy. Less

Gari Jenkins Deep Tissue I went in for a Deep Tissue/Stretching session. I've had a lot of massages in my life, and I know to expect some soreness the next day after a proper deep tissue massage. I expect some depth and discomfort in my deep tissue massages and Gari did not disappoint. But, what I was most impressed by, is the control and precision of releasing the knots and stubborn muscles. Gari credited years of guitar playing for his finger strength and accuracy. There were some stubborn deep muscles that got addressed and I was fully expecting to be in a little pain the next day as I healed. To my pleasant surprise I felt great almost immediately! The right blend of knowledge and technique with strength and precision definitely yielded superior results. Gari was able to identify and address problem spots more accurately than someone who is 'all elbows'. I think this minimized unnecessary bruising to surrounding tissue and is why I felt better faster. Regardless of my speculative theories about the aftermath, it was a great therapeutic massage in the moment; I feel great now several days later; I will be back; I highly recommend Gari to others.
