We recently decided to replace our old windows with double-glazing from Thermawood for the benefits of better thermal insulation, better noise insulation, and (in our case) a better view by getting rid of the numerous cross-bars of our old colonial style windows and having larger panes. We liked that these were not cheap plastic, but quality glass fitted to our existing timber frames, complementing the appearance of our home. We were also pleased with the value - there are of course cheap units out there, but for top quality with no regrets, these represent fantastic value for money. I would say they have already paid for themselves in improved appearance and noise reduction, even before we see the savings on heating and cooling bills. Our home is also more comfortable as a result of more even temperatures without the hot and cold spots the old windows caused. From the start, we found every single person we dealt with to be polite, competent, helpful, and not pushy. We were given a detailed quote, and good advice to help us decide on which options were or were not worth us getting. For example, we opted for the extra noise reduction only for the bedroom which faces the road, saving money. When it was time for installation, which took a few days, the crew were always on time, and worked around our schedule to minimise any disruption. They only removed old windows they were sure would be replaced by the end of the day, and kept the entire site clean and tidy throughout the job. In dealing with other trades, we have often found that some members of a crew are better than others, but the guys from Thermawood were consistently good - courteous, competent, efficient, and communicative whenever there was a question or issue. Two of the panels were slightly off in size, and after promptly letting us know, they did a great job of a temporary install which avoided draughty gaps, and had the correct panels delivered and installed within 2 days. Anyone can make the odd mistake - what is critical is how well it is dealt with, and we couldn't have asked for better - it caused us no difficulty or inconvenience at all. The crew were very helpful when asked about options for staining the new trims and ongoing cleaning (they left the windows all spotlessly clean), leaving a few samples of the trim timber so we could test before applying stain to the window trims on the house. I cannot think of a single thing to complain about - we are very happy with the product, the company, and every single person we dealt with. We live on a busy street in a house with lead light windows facing the street. We contacted Thermawood to double Glaze our front facing windows to reduce the road noise levels entering the front rooms. Jasmin visited our house explaining the process, along with a measure and quote. Our lead light windows were removed the openings sealed and boarded. up. The lead light windows were cleaned and adjusted to fit between the double glazing of the frame. They came back looking pristine. New balances were installed into our double sash windows, The noise reduction is marvelous, with the road noise disappearing. The work retrofitting double glazing to my 120 year old period home is complete and I could not be happier. From the start the response to my initial query was very quick with Stefanie calling for a measure and quote within a matter of days. Her knowledge of the product was excellent including technical aspects and how it compared to other products I had seen whilst researching double glazing. Being an avid fan of Grand Designs Australia, I knew that double glazing can be expensive, and the quote came in within my expectations. Upon payment of a deposit, second measure and ordering of the glass took place and we worked out an installation time that fitted in with my travel plans. Alen the installer, kept me fully informed of start date and arrival times and once on site explained the installation process, and we scheduled when each room was to be done over a two week period Extra care was taken by the team to protect furniture and floorings, and each night Alen did a full site clean up. Whilst installation was occurring , I also followed up with painting and some minor wood rot repairs, and Alen was also extremely helpful with products and techniques to fix rot and paint frames. After researching European styled double glazing replacement windows for my house that was very costly, Thermawood retrofit double glazing was surprisingly a lot more cost effective way to achieve similar results in terms of heat insulation and noise reduction. They were able to retro fit my 30mm timber windows, thus maintaining the house period character. The work was completed in a timely manner with no disruption to the house security. These guys are awesome. They have replaced all our windows in the living area of the house which were single glazed. The difference is immeasurable. We have gone from a room which was quite cold requiring lots of heating to a room which is warmer. Further, the amount of noise and general awareness of the wind has reduced substantially. The entire experience with Thermawood was a pleasure - initial consultations, measuring and the installation. Winter in our area can be harsh but we can already see and feel the difference the double glazing is making - no water running down the inside of windows, even on frosty mornings, and the heater is set lower. Given it is the middle of Winter, I've not had a chance to try opening the windows, but the sliding door is actually easier to open and close than it was before, despite the additional weight. They also organised scaffolding for the upper story work and we negotiated to leave it over the weekend so I could paint trims and also put a new coat on my weatherboards. Rooms have been noticeably retaining heat better and for longer. It would be good to offer/refer a follow-on painting service as an option. This would be valuable to many customers. Less

We had the heritage windows for three rooms fitted with the Thermawood product. All up there were 16 panes, 7 of which were leadlight. We had some challenges with install but Jasmin and the team did an amazing job rectifying those issues. Winter is setting in now and where my old, single pane windows are already running with condensation, the new thermawood windows are clear as day. They provide improved noise reduction and the temperature in the rooms is much more comfortable. I will have the team back to replace more windows in the future. I used Thermawood Boroondara, I am really pleased with the retrofitted double glazed windows and door I have had fitted. The temperature in my home is more stable, whether i am using heating or cooling. I don't need to have my heating or cooling on for as long as I did previously or set at the extreme for each setting. We had our windows done with Thermawood back in 2018 - they were tricky old sash windows and they managed to get them double glazed easily. What was really impressive though, was six years later when I rang them when a crack in one of our windows appeared. Without hesitation their super friendly phone staff found our window-fitting history, had established that this repair sounded under warranty, sent out a team the following week and fitted a new window free of charge! We had French doors and large sliding doors with double glazing reglazed by thermawood monash after the original double glazing failed. They did an excellent job including rebuilding one of the doors which has rotted. Their workmanship and professionalism was impressive. I love the new glazing - it’s beautifully done and shouldn’t go foggy. It’s heavier than our previous double glazing and provides more sound and heat proofing. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them and have in fact done so recently to a painter who commented on what a great job they’d done. Less

We had Thermawood Gippsland install their amazing products on 12th of March to 14th of March 2024. Michael, Liam and Dale were such a happy team. They came every day by 7ish am and started to set up and begin their work diligently. They were happily working together, we heard them laughing together and working hard as they focused on the job. I feel safe and a pleasant environment as we have 2 young children in the house and I'm currently pregnant while they were installing the windows. One particular window, because the meter box blocked the way, there was a chance the window frame may not be able to make it in as it needed a full swing in order to click into the joint to make it freely open and close. The team managed to solve the problem, though Michael said it is the hardest window he ever had to install but the team managed to make it open like any other window. We are very thankful they didn't give up easily. They are very mindful of children. For example, Dale is very polite when he needs to make a noise to cut something he is always informing me and the kids. So we got to prepare in advance. Liam and Michael don't mind taking their shoes on and off just to keep the floor clean for the kids. There are few things that are able to adjust to the situation and save further $800 as Michael felt our current awning chain winders are just as good. We are very happy with their work. It is done professionally and efficiently. We highly recommend them to anyone who may be interested in double glazing for their home. Thermawood Gippsland is the best. We live in a 1905 Edwardian house in Hawthorn East. In 1984 we rebuilt the back half in a modern style on two levels, with Stegbar cedar windows throughout. As part of a general home upgrade we recently commissioned Thermawood to retro-fit every window (about 25 altogether) in this part of the house with double-glazed units. We have noticed immediate improvements in energy efficiency and noise abatement. Importantly, they were able to match the existing timber so that the "new" windows in fact look even better than the original ones. We had a great experience with the Thermawood crew, who were efficient, reliable, easy to get along with and above all produced a quality result with great attention to detail and a minimum of fuss.
