What an amazing gym and culture. I started at one of their 8 week beginner bootcamps, which I highly recommend. I’m 4 months in and train 3 days a week. My only complaint is that this leaves me with 4 days a week where I’m sad that I can’t train. I’ve spoken with several members who landed here after jumping around multiple gyms, and they all said that this one is in a league of its own. Incredibly supportive community and a very intentionally designed culture of positivity and self-improvement. Excellent instructors. Has something to offer for all ages. I’ve struggled with taking care of myself in my day-to-day, and yet these days I’m more than happy to watch my sleep and what I consume because I feel the results on the mat. I have not had a single negative experience, outside of spontaneous moments of regret that I waited three years before trying this gym out. Less

I had long wanted to try BJJ and finally did after turning 42. Sheridan BJJ’s coaches, especially Professor Kevin and Marco, are incredibly patient, supportive, and wise. The community is extremely welcoming as well — I’ve consistently received support and generous instruction from guys with advanced belts. Nobody treats white belts like they are a burden — they see white belts as part of the community, and are invested in white belts learning and growing. Sheridan BJJ is a great gym. The instructors and members are all really supportive as you learn. The classes are a lot of fun and you get a good workout. If you want to forget all about your workday, go to one of the evening classes. 10 minutes in, you'll forget you have a job. Less

My child attends Sheridan Jiu Jitsu and really enjoys it. The instructor Alex is kind, encouraging and a great explainer. While he takes his time to explain the moves and the physics involved he doesn't belabor the explanations; rather he knows the students will get the most of our actually practicing the moves. Alex doesn't overly police the kids while they are sparring either. But he is always watching to make sure they are properly and fairly practicing the moves they have just been taught. My child has met kids from other towns and schools and likes having friends outside of school. My child has also gained self-confidence - in herself and her jiu jitsu skills. It's a friendly, clean studio with a bench for parents to watch. I hope that my child continues with jiujitsu. The pricing is on par with having twice-weekly lessons and any communications I have had with the office have been speedy. Less

Sheridan BJJ, owned by Kevin Sheridan - seen in these photos – is a well-run, clean, positive training facility for kids and adults alike. I started my son in BJJ this fall when his wrestling program was unable to open due to Covid concerns. Sheridan himself was a local wrestler, and I felt he would be able to relate to my son on that level, as well as teach him new skills, and I was correct. Sheridan is a dad himself, and is patient and kind to children while teaching them the values of respect, patience and discipline - all tenets that are vital in any martial arts system. My 5-year old son started taking classes at Sheridan BJJ in February of this year. My wife and I were looking for a martial arts practice that valued the development of character and morality alongside physical skills. And that's exactly what we found at Sheridan BJJ. Kevin, the owner, is a great mentor and role model that good principles for both life and martial arts rub off on everyone interacting with him, including the parents. The result is a warm sense of community and belonging that is welcoming to everyone and supportive of each other. The classrooms are a place to practice those principles. The instructors create a fun and playful environment for the kids to learn at their own pace and with individual attention. When my son couldn't take on-site classes anymore due to the pandemic, Kevin was so kind to reach out to us and offered on-line private instruction. I have come to greatly appreciate the mentorship and training that my son receives in these private sessions. After about two months, we started seeing positive impact on not only my son's interest in Jiu Jitsu but also on his behavior at home, being more respectful and confident, helping more with chores, saying thank-yous more often, etc. Kevin has an upbeat and patient personality that is well-suited to working with kids.
