I was brand new to Olympic lifting and CrossFit, so when the coaches broke down every movement my first class, I thought they were taking special care to show me the movements since I was new, but I quickly realized that they take that extra care with everyone, regardless of their past experiences with CrossFit. If you have an injury or are struggling with something, the coaches will not hesitate to help you in a variety of ways, whether that’s prescribing extra accessory work to help strengthen any weaker areas, work with you one on one on the side to get a technique down, modify a workout for you, or show you some stretches to alleviate any pain. From Gayle (the coach) to the members/athletes, everyone made me feel very, very welcome. The place was the perfect size, had great equipment and the workout/WOD was challenging. Only bummer is that they didn't have a shirt in my size! I am extremely happy to have found CrossFit Full Strength. Gayle (the owner) does an awesome job at managing the gym. She is lightening fast to respond to text/email and truly cares about the members and staff. I am a pretty shy person and I have never done anything like this, but the atmosphere is very welcoming and everyone (including members) are extremely friendly! I have never lifted weights to this degree. The coaches are awesome and helped me with my form and guide me on the different techniques. Coach Ian is extremely nice and relaxed while teaching sessions and always guiding my form and testing my strength. Coach Dustin is awesome as well. He has a very approachable personality and has shown me the difference in what techniques I should or shouldn’t do. I was scared to join CrossFit at first, but I needed something worth while that caught my attention, mixed up my routine and something community based - this gym is everything I was looking for! (On a side note; I have been doing this for three weeks now and have already seen the inches decrease. I was a size 18 and I am now down to 15/14!) Less

The staff is friendly and they let you work out at your own level, they won't put pressure on you or make you begin with nothing that forces your limits, you are the one who puts the own limits based on the dynamics given. Installations are complete and clean, it is not smelly neither dusty so you do feel comfortable working out with the equipment. Regarding availability they offer an app where you can see the schedules for every day, they even offer a 5:15 am class so most of the classes work for any type of schedule. Overall, the service is what you expect to have in a gym, downsides is that you don't get any class after 7:15 pm, besides that everything is presentable Less

Signed up via Groupon and took 6 weeks of classes at the Thomas location in Phoenix. As a former football player I never thought to much about crossfit while I was lifting heavy things and running into people. I began going to classes at what was likely the most out of shape I have been in my life but thought, how hard could it be? In hindsight, I advise against that attitude. They put me to work and I loved it. It was great for all skill levels... being new, the coaches took plenty of time to make sure the movements were correct in addition to lengthy warmups prior to the WOD (workout of the day). This prevented injuries and stretched the soreness out of the prior days workout. If you are worried because you don't workout a lot or think you can't handle the weight, don't be. There is no pressure to do anything more than you can handle, but you will want to challenge and push yourself each time when you watch the people around you reach goals and push themselves. I appreciated the group/team atmosphere after taking a long time away from the gym as it made me want to keep up and secretly out perform the others around me. My lifts increased and my weight decreased big time over the 6 week period. This gym is the real deal and if you want to make a change in your life, it begins here... Just be ready to work for it like anything worth while! Less

I travel for work and I've had the opportunity to workout at many CrossFit boxes in Arizona. Each box has its strengths and it's rare for a box to hit every mark. However, I found CrossFit Full Strength lacking in so many ways that I really can't offer a positive review. I attended 3 workouts at this box as a fairly new CrossFitter. I found the coaching to be lacking in both skill and understanding. The owner and coach was dismissive when I requested clarification on lifting technique for the power clean; he noted that it was a simple movement and I shouldn't over-think it. Sorry, but Olympic lifts are NOT simple movements and adding load to faulty lifting technique increases risk of injury. Also the gym had two bikes, one of which was not functioning properly but which we were still expected to use for workouts. These issues aside, I didn't find the box community very welcoming or supportive, which are things I typically appreciate about other boxes I've been to. The owner also seemed pretty pushy with new members about his nutrition beliefs, which was off-putting to me. Granted, everyone has a different experience so maybe this box is a good fit for others and just wasn't a good fit for me. But from my experience there are much better boxes out there with better coaches and better equipment. It's worth trying a few different boxes if you are new to CrossFit to find the one that is right for you. Less

My husband and I were recently in Phoenix on vacation and were looking for a box close to our hotel to Oly lift here while in town (I am trying to qualify for masters nationals). Crossfit Full Strength was just a short taxi ride away so I emailed Gayle. She was very kind and had no problem with me being there just to lift. What I didn’t realize before arriving in Phoenix is that they had a weightlifting class and the coach (Luz) was a former Olympian! I was thrilled, to say the least, and went to the class to see what I could learn from a woman with so much knowledge and experience! Paul greeted us at the front desk and was super friendly and very helpful in getting us signed in and set up. The members in the class that day were also very friendly and it was a lot of fun to be there lifting with them. Luz was amazing and so helpful!! Though overall she seemed to like what she saw (I am blessed to have a really awesome coach at home), she pointed out a couple of things I could work on to improve and I have been incorporating them into my routine with great results (ie, snatch PR!!). I also got to see a few of the Crossfit classes while I was there and noticed how thorough the coaching was, via Paul and Gayle. I am a certified personal trainer and a level I Crossfit coach myself, and I saw that they reviewed and broke down each move in the wod and truly emphasized technique and safety, ie, advising not to go too heavy without proper form. I could also see the connection that the coaches had with the members. It was a very positive atmosphere in a really great facility and we will definitely be back the next time we are in Phoenix! I've been passionate about strength training since I was a teen (am 37 now). As a long time passionate health nut, personal trainer. and health coach, I never EVER thought I would veer off from going to the typical commercial gym. Boy was I damn wrong. I am a research junkie, and love knowing the best ways to help the human body whether it be from a physical, mental/emotional, or nutritional focus. My Osteopath, (an avid and ranked man of CrossFit) began introducing CrossFit movement into my programming, and after getting my body healed and strong again we both felt it was quite ok to try something new. I did my research on local CrossFit "boxes" and decided to try out CrossFit FullStrength, as I read specific positive things regarding the owner's passion for programming and training people. The members I began to meet were amiable and the coaches I started learning from were extremely passionate about teaching specific movements from the ground up. I love exercise programming, as I have do this for my own clients, and this whole new ball game of CrossFit programming made me feel like a kid in a candy shop. After my first week or so at FullStrength I was on cloud nine! I couldn't believe the challenge of the new types of workouts I was experiencing, alongside the feeling of how much fun it was. I've always worked out solo for twenty years, maybe with a buddy once in a while. It was a whole new feeling to workout with a group, and a friendly and supportive group to say the least. For me it feels so damn good to cheer on other people, other people cheering you on, high living, and simply being supportive in ways that I never experienced in a commercial gym. Gayle Shalloo is the owner, and she moved into a new location just about one month ago. It's twice the size of the last location, has more goodies, and more smiling members are walking through the door. I've been a member for about seven months now, and it's been fantastic. Did I mention that her programming is awesome??? ha.. (challenging but just right), the coaches want you to do perform movements correctly, members are supportive (which I feel is essential for a business like this), and I CONSISTENTLY have a shitload of fun. I have build strength, endurance, and power beyond how I have trained myself in the past, and that ain't no bull. Don't let CrossFit intimidate you. Practically every exercise can be modified and scaled down for each individual. Everyone can start somewhere by building a foundation and processing from there. You can go to most "boxes" for a first class for free, and I highly suggest checking out FullStrength for one. If you are looking for a challenging, supportive, and family feel, then you need to consider sprinting over to FullStrength's ASAP. Less

Back in March, I saw a deal on Amazon local for a 16-class trial run at Full Strength, and saw that the gym was literally two minutes from my house, so I went ahead and tried it out. When I walked into the gym, I was super intimidated and almost changed my mind. Until Gayle, the owner, came up and introduced herself and then proceeded to walk me through the workout and proper form on the movements. I went through my 16 classes in about 3 weeks and immediately signed up for the unlimited monthly membership. The coaches at this gym make the health of the members a top priority. They don't push you to do anything you aren't ready for. Form is always prioritized over finishing first or lifting the heaviest. And if you're a newbie, every workout can be modified for beginners. The members are very friendly and supportive, and always willing to offer helpful advice. I highly recommend Crossfit Full Strength for both beginner and advanced Crossfitters. Less

I work in the fitness industry at a global gym and this was something new to me, fun, fresh, and different! I worked out at 2 gyms off and on and started learning a lot about crossfit, the movements, and the community. One day one of my friends told me to come meet up with her at full strength for a workout and from that day on crossfit was more than a just a occasional workout for me it was my workout. It wasn’t that the workouts were different or not as good as any other gym it was the welcoming environment and community of full strength that pulled me in and pumped me up! Both the members and the coaches are awesome at full strength! Everyone is welcoming, encouraging, and laughing there way through the grueling workouts together! I love this place and feel completely at home! Gayle has done a wonderful job running full strength, I always look forward to going in getting my butt kicked, learning something new, and just being silly and having a good time! If you’re tired of the same old routine or you’re looking for a crossfit home I would absolutely check out full strength! There also in the works of moving to a bigger location in the same complex which is super exciting I can’t wait! Less

It's been great spending time with Gayle and her team at CrossFit Full Strength (CF FS). I have never been so excited to work this hard in my life - it's the community that makes it entirely worthwhile and keeps me excited about my next workout. As a relatively new member, my perspective is one from someone who very recently had a lot of fears/anxiety/concerns about what they were getting themselves into. My thoughts: - CF will teach you that you are capable of much more than you thought. Sometimes you have no choice other than to get your butt against the wall and try to bang out kipping HSPUs; you never know until you try. - CF will also teach you to check your ego at the door. In the first month, I have been consistently out lifted by men and women smaller than me and very recently I watched on as a pregnant member whipped out double-unders with ease; very much to my surprise/awe/amazement (I was certainly jealous too). I have been deeply humbled by my time at Full Strength and that is a good thing for me. - Olympic lifts can be scary; there is a lot to learn here and I am still learning A LOT, but Jeremy, Fernando and Gayle have made them much more approachable as I work to improve. - I started at CF FS after a season of triathlon training (and corresponding layoff). I thought I was fit, turns out I didn't even know what fit was. This is some serious $hit. - CF FS provides Olympic Lifting classes, attendance for these should be mandatory for the new lifter. - Would prefer a Mobility/Recovery workouts each week. I would even attend a Yoga class if it meant improving my mobility. I recommend stalking KStarr on on YouTube if you are looking to improve mobility. - Would prefer an open gym session other than the one scheduled during the week at 8am. That one probably works great for some but it is not a session I could ever attend. An open gym session on the weekend would be AWESOME - this would provide a great opportunity to learn kipping pullups (or kipping anything for that matter), double unders, muscle ups, etc. Despite my preferences for a mobility class and additional open gym sessions, I have been more than satisfied with CrossFit Full Strength. I am getting stronger, faster, and fitter everyday and I owe it entirely to my experience there. The community and the coaches make it easy to thrive. Looking forward to my next workout! Cheers, David Less

After just competing in a Fitness Competition I needed a break from the weight room. One day I was researching CrossFit in the Phoenix area and I came across CrossFit Full Strength. I read all the reviews and decided to give it a try. I remember walking through the doors on a Sunday morning nervous as all hell because I had never ventured off into a different kind of workout besides the weight room. When I walked through the door I was greeted with so much welcome and friendliness. I had never seen anything like this before. Needless to say, I did the workout on that one Sunday morning and two weeks later here I am writing a review. CrossFit Full Strength teaches you so much about proper form and not doing these crazy moves and trying to injure yourself. The community this establishment has built is unbelievable. All their clients are so friendly and always have a smile on their face with welcoming anyone new who walks through that door. If you are looking for one of the best CrossFit’s in the Phoenix, PLEASE COME TO CROSSFIT FULL STRENGTH!!!!!! Less

I have trained at boxes in Pennsylvania, Arizona, Connecticut, New York City, Utah and Colorado. 3. I have visited countless boxes while traveling. With that said, Crossfit Full Strength is the best box I've ever trained at. Hands down. The programming is on point if you are looking for a balance of strength training and conditioning. The trainers are competitive Crossfitters and, as such, have insight into what works for progressive strength gains. In addition, there is a focused approach to developing and practicing olympic lifting on a 3x per week basis. Beyond the programming, one of the aspects that I find so impressive about this gym is that the owners are not afraid to expand. Since 2009, I've seen the gym invest in high quality equipment including Pendlay olympic lifting bars and plates, C2 rowers, expanded pull up bars, jerk blocks, etc... Steps in this direction not only attract new members but also work to provide more value to existing members. Crossfit teaches its members that routine breeds stagnation and the owners of CFFS have taken this adage a step further by applying it to their business model. With that said, if you are looking for performance gains, aesthetic improvement, and community, CFFS is the best bang for your buck in the Phoenix area. Less

Gayle, Jeremy, Emily, Joy, and Fernando are great coaches and truly care about your performance and helping you improve your form and fitness. Gayle (owns the box) and puts a lot of thought into programming. I've personally seen tremendous gains in strength and fitness both in Olympic lifts and times on WODS. The members are very friendly and encouraging (they span the spectrum of experience and fitness levels). It's a very familial atmosphere with a bunch of outside social activities. To those who have Crossfitted before, you already know that boxes are not your typical gyms. To those who haven't, don't expect to come into a facility that is like a typical LA Fitness. The box overlooks an ice rink (very cool!) and is very much focused on utility over looks. As with anything else - you will only get out what you put in - however, the coaches and the members make it so much easier for you to want to come in and give your best. I highly recommend giving it a try - you will not be disappointed! Less

I joined full strength 3 months ago. I had a coupon on amazon local for a month with a discounted rate. I was afraid at first because I didn't know what I was getting myself into. Gayle, the owner was very helpful and contacted me through email and also exchanged texts with me. When I went to my first class the next morning, everyone had been at crossfit for at least six months so I felt inferior. I was very surprised at how helpful and encouraging everyone was and has been. They cheered me on to finish the workout and even helped me put my weights away. After the first day and month, I did not want to go to another gym. I live within a mile of another crossfit but I don't believe it would compare to full strength. From the coaches to the vets and everyone in between, it is a family atmosphere to the fullest extent. Whether it is something with crossfit or something going on in your personal life, the coaches and members go above and beyond to assist in the situation. The daily workouts are fully body (or least feel like it) and encompass strength as well as cardio. One of the best things about this gym is how they accommodate your fitness level to the workout. If you can not perform a movement, they scale it for you so you can maximize your workout and not feel left out. There are many occupations represented at this box and social events are scheduled for members to fellowship outside of the gym. Personally, I've lost 35 pounds since joining and have learned so much from Gayle, Emily, Jeremy, and Fernando as well as elder members of the box. It is definitely worth trying out! Less
