We recently took a two week trip to Italy starting in Naples, touring the Amalfi Coast, Capris and Sicily. The trip exceeded our expectations. We utilized private drivers and private tour guides. It was well worth the money. In every case the driver and guide was on time, if not early. They spoke fluent English and Italian. But most importantly they were knowledgable and were able to escort us through some difficult lines to get us to the correct destination. The tours were intimate and informative. The hands down best guide was Maria, the guide for Trabia and Palermo. We cannot say enough good things about her. Her English was very good and she knew the sites and events in wonderful detail. She was a fount of knowledge. However, what we even valued more, was her attitude and willingness to help. She had previously set up a meeting for us with the keeper of records, for the town of Trabia to track down our ancestors. In Sorento we happened upon a Cooking venue where we were given instructions to made a complete authentic Italian meal. It was amazing and well worth taking the time out of busy tours to enjoy the Italian cuisine.Positano was a joy. The beauty here, and on the Amalfi coast, set the bar that no other area could achieve (except for Capri). The hotel was great. Loved the 75-100 year old Bougainvillea blooming across the restaurant ceiling. Very nice place for the in-shape traveler.Palmero was a very pleasant surprise for us. It had vibrant streets jammed with tourists and locals, and wonderful old/historical buildings to view and enjoy. The hotel was a home run. It was built on the remains of a 500 year old villa and retained sections of the villa's original massive brick walls, floors and ceilings, throughout. The city of Palermo, and this hotel, were our big discoveries during this trip.We would highly recommend working with Brian Chima to make the most out of your time in Italy. It was a hassle free wonderful trip that we will treasure!
