They arrived early, they were professional in every way and great communicators answering all my questions and taking my instructions for where to place things. They were so fast and knew exactly how to dismantle and reassemble my furniture and that was my biggest concern! Tony and his crew made me feel so reassured about the whole move. There was just one problem with getting my large sofa up to the unit and then they realized that they could just hoist it up via a balcony which of course cost me an extra amount but they did a perfect job with the hoisting as well! It's hard to believe that it's already been two months since my move on July 5th, and now the change of season is noticeable. Three movers arrived a few minutes ahead of schedule, and the team leader quickly determined that an additional mover would be needed. With my agreement, he called for another mover, which proved to be the right decision as it took the four movers 10 full hours to complete the job. The fourth mover, who joined an hour later, worked for 9 hours, and this was accurately reflected in the final bill. They were honest and worked incredibly hard on one of the hottest and most humid days. Great service. They flipped me off while driving. A young white man with a blue shirt and black hair flipped me off. This was great behavior however he was swerving in lanes and looked to have one hand on the steering wheel and the other hand chocking the chicken. We used Five Star Movers in Nov. 2018 to move us from our long-time home In Brookline to a condo in Cambridge. This included a severe downsizing & the opting out at the last minute of a previously booked mover. Five Stars saved the day! We were able to get them to do the move on short notice -- the men worked extremely hard & fast & were responsive to our needs. Also, the woman manager was responsive & pleasant. Tony and his team were extremely prompt, giving us a call 5 minutes before our scheduled move to let us know they were here. They were professional, making sure they knew where we wanted our boxes to end up in our new space. They took extra care to make sure our TV was well wrapped--they brought their own moving blankets and extra packing tape to reinforce some of our items. Five Star charged $185/hr for moving (3 hr minimum) + $185/hr for travel time (1 hr minimum) on our particular moving date. We've used Five Star Movers twice, and they've been fantastic both times. Initially when I started to plan for my cross country move (Boston to San Diego) I came across mixed reviews online (even for them, and I was a little reluctant to believe them completely). There were some horror stories about hidden fees and skyrocketing prices. I found them through online price search websites(but again some reviews made me skeptical). My initial interactions were with John. He was fantastic! He explained their pricing clearly (flat rate or something like $7 per square foot) and assured me there wouldn't be any surprises. John even helped me figure out which option would be most affordable (for eg get your own TC packing box for much cheaper from Home depot etc). Other options eg uhaul boxes were more expensive than the quote I had from them. Here's the best part, they actually beat out all the other options, even U-Haul containers, once I factored in the extra help I'd need to move everything ! The movers themselves were rockstars. They showed up right on time and packed up my entire apartment, furniture and all, in under 30 minutes. The best part? They were completely transparent. No hidden fees, just a small charge for the packing supplies they used right in front of me (which I wouldn't have needed if I had my own). They even helped me toss some old stuff I didn't need anymore – lifesavers! Oh, and get this: I completely forgot about my desktop computer until the day after they had picked my stuff from my apartment. I called them up in a panic, and they were happy to take it if I dropped it off at their facility. Even better, Tony saw it, he said there wouldn't be any extra charge! There was a bit of a wait for my stuff to arrive (it was a 3,000-mile journey, after all), but it showed up exactly on the 21st day, just like the contract said. The delivery guys were awesome too. They could have charged me extra for the stairs and a little extra distance to my apartment, but they just waved it off. Plus, they carried everything up, put the boxes exactly where I wanted them, unpacked everything, and even put my furniture back together. All Five Star workers went above and beyond. All my boxex were intact, no damages(except one plastic bag had a rip(one out of 70 pieces, I would say thats success). I can't recommend them enough. They were transparent, efficient, and incredibly accommodating. They took the stress out of my long-distance move, and I'm so grateful for their excellent service. If you're looking for a reliable mover you can trust, look no further! And yes the final price was exactly the same as John mentioned in the quote. P.S. the final price is dependent on your stuff volume, give them an exact inventory and that would be your price. and also read the contract carefully, they will go by the word, that is their obligation and they will fullfil it. Erica was communicative and pleasant to deal with over the phone and via email. The movers who came to collect the furniture were efficient and pleasant. The list of furniture wasn't exactly the same as what I had originally detailed, but that's because my elderly mother couldn't make up her mind. In any event, there was one large piece that we didn't need to move that should have more than made up for a few other smaller pieces we did. We were charged an additional $250 which did not make me very happy. Nonetheless, the furniture was delivered from state to state overnight and nothing was damaged or lost so we'll call this a good service! Less
