I hired Empire Roofing to reroof my house and garage. First of all, they were the only company (I called 5 total) that actually called me back. They were quick to schedule an inspection and after it was determined there was hail damage, they worked with my insurance company flawlessly. Material delivery was prompt and they scheduled to start the project the very next day. The team then showed up at 7am and went to work. AND I MEAN WORK! The entire project (house and garage) was completed in less than 6 hours - including: set up, tear off (2 layers of shingles), roofing, and clean up. I received MANY comments from neighbors that were as shocked as I was at how fast they completed the project. After they completed the project they did a final inspection with a drone to take pictures. After we finally had some rain, I called them to inquire about some water that was missing the gutters completely due to the gables on the roof. They were able to refer to the high quality pictures they took to quickly realize the previous roof had rain diverters installed. Empire quickly came back out to install additional material (rain diverters) to solve the problem. Everyone was knowledgeable, professional, and prompt from start to finish. I had a leaky roof. They came and were here over an hour figuring out where the problem was. Prompt service to fix it. Went above and beyond when I had another leak. They came back (at no charge) and tested what else was leaking, found out it was my chimney. Came back and wrapped it until I can get it fixed. Really great service.

By 5:30 p.m. the crew was pulling away, siding intact, roofs complete and no evidence left in the yard to suggest mountains of old shingles had come off the roofs. Plus when the solar crew wrapped another job early, even the final inspection had been completed and the dumpster had been pulled so they could start their work several days earlier than anticipated. After a severe storm ripped through the area, causing major damage to the roof of our home, I reached out to several local roofing companies. Of the five I contacted, Empire Roofing was one of the first to show up. Michael Nelson, one of the three brothers who own this company, arrived shortly after that. His review was returned to me within the week. This was all new to us so Michael took time to explain what to expect. Only one other of the five companies provided a review which was rejected by our insurance company. We hired them based on their qualifications. If you've never had to file an insurance claim, it can be pretty intimidating. Geoffrey Nelson, Michael's older brother & accountant for Empire, explained the details of filing a claim. He also reached out to our insurance company and worked closely with them on the financial side, something I could not have done by myself. The roofing crew of six men showed up shortly after that and completed the work within a day. I was amazed and pleased with the crew's level of knowledge and professional attitude. I never expected to have this job done within that time frame. A couple days after completion, Dean Nelson, their older brother showed up to inspect the work. I had empire roofing come out and assess hail damage from July hail storm in 2023. Marlin was extremely helpful finding hail damage on my house as well as my metal pole building. I then emailed my insurance information to this company and was told I would get emailed back the estimate and a plan for the roof replacement. Communication was little to none. Empire replaced two roofs for me. Both jobs were done expeditiously and of very high quality. When the gutter came loose after this difficult winter, they returned this spring and resecured the gutter even though it probably wasn't their responsibility. I would use them again in a heartbeat!

They did a great job tearing out the old roofing and installing decking before laying down new roofing at our house. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the result of our roof. Here's a breakdown on the company's performance. Project Manager: Geoff was very courteous, punctual, and a very good listener. He was very descriptive on the insurance process and showed up to all our appointments on time. He responded to my emails and phone calls promptly. Grade: A Roofers: The roofer worked super hard. 12 hours the first day. 15 hours the second day. The two days were hot - 85+ degrees and often windy. They took necessary breaks and never left the job for another. I appreciate the commitment. Grade A Ground prep and material handling: I had several problems here. Our house is pretty tight with our next door neighbor. My neighbor has a beautiful shade garden which the ground crew cut through a 3+ foot wide path for disposal. Her plants were fully bloomed and we won't know what will live until they sprout again next spring. There were several whole sheets of shingles that didn't get picked up until 3 days after the crew was done with the job. String of nails were hung on phone lines and one of our antique lead window was broken. The biggest problem I here was broken glass spilled into our hallway. The crew didn't come in to alert us of the danger or offer to clean it up. We cleaned it up ourselves and let had to alert the project managers along with the roofers. Thirdly, some of my siding material nearby got damaged due to being stepped on. The material and broken window had to be replaced Grade: F Paper work: The office staff did a great job here. The billing was straight forward. In term of replacing our window, materials, and working with my neighbor's damaged garden, Empire did not hesitate to make it right. Geoff spoke to our neighbor and took her input gracefully. My window is being compensated by Empire as well as the damaged siding material. Grade: A Overall opinion: Empire is a good company. They were thorough, polite, punctual, priced fairly, and delivered beautiful end product. They're good at what they do and I wouldn't be reluctant to employ them again for my garage. The crew from Empire came in at 7:00 am and our old roof was stripped and a new roof put on by noon! This included the clean up. My gutters and yard was cleaner than before they came. Empire crew replaced my roof in about four hours. Looks good, but only some time with poor weather will determine if they did a good job. Crew removed the old roof (three layers!) and roofed the house. Crew worked quickyl obviously, but did do some minor damage to deck during the removal of old material. Price was fair.

I had Empire replace my roof last week and it was an excellent experience! The crew was friendly, they did a great job on the roof and the cleanup was impeccable. I would highly recommend Empire Roofing!

Without notification they subcontracted out the project. The job was completed mid-December. At one time there was forecast for rain and I had to call and text them repeatedly on a Saturday to have them cover the roof which was exposed (you could see outside in 8 different areas, this was done (after 6PM ,in the dark.) I had to telephone them again to have them clean up the debris: nails, shingles pieces of metal so I could have my sidewalks snowblowed. A part of the contract was to install a weathervane on the peak of the house. The vane is lying on the roof(4 stories up). The yard continues to have countless cigarette butts littering it. Hire good reputable roofing contractors instead. Less

I was a contractor for 3 years and have experience replacing and setting new roofs. I am intimately familiar with code and construction practices. Our roofing experience with Empire has been downright infuriating. Getting the estimate was relatively easy, setting everything up went well. But when they started the job... it was awful. If it weren't for my personal experience with roofs, I would never have known what was wrong and they would have simply ripped me off with shoddy and incomplete work. They started at 6:15 am without prior notification. I have kids, one of whom is medically complex, but no regard was shown for those living in the home. As far as I could tell, it was a group of 6 men with no affiliation with Empire. They arrived in an unmarked, beat up van, without "Empire Roofing" to be seen anywhere. The group of men either only spoke Spanish or completely ignored my attempts to communicate. I tried telling them that something was being done incorrectly on my way to work, but when I got home, they had still done the job incorrectly. By the time a rep from Empire Roofing came to check, the roof was almost complete. After he reviewed the work, the crew had to go back and replace some sub-fascia. In doing so, they ruined some roof edge, but didn't replace it. I witnessed one nail being put through some roof edge and despite pointing it out, they didn't replace it. They put the drip edge over the old decorative trim even though I had told them the trim needed to come off. When I reminded them, they didn't fix it. They didn't remove the old tar paper: Instead they button capped it and went over the top. They broke boards in the roof and didn't replace them. These are only some of the issues with the job that was done. Even what was technically done properly, was of poor quality. Now, we have received a letter stating they have tried contacting us repeatedly over the last 5 months asking for payment. However, they haven't contacted me at all regarding payment. They have only contacted me once asking if the job was finished. I told them it was not done and detailed specifically what needed to be completed and fixed. I was told someone would be in contact about it. No one ever called. In the letter we just received, dated December 30th, 2014, we were given a 5 day notice before they would place a lien on our property. We didn't receive said letter until the 11th of February (postmarked the 10th of February). I still haven't ever received a final bill at all and the work still is improperly finished, poorly done and incomplete. How can I pay them when the work isn't fixed or finished and I haven't been sent a bill? Shady practices at best. Downright slimy. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Less

Four phone calls: 1st call was told I'd hear from an estimator within two days. When that person never called made three subsequent calls; not one was returned. Apparently they're making so much money these days that they don't need any more business. So stop calling them; they've already made all the money they need to.

Why would I think you can get my roof replaced when you can't even show up for an estimate....not just late for the estimate, didn't show up AT ALL. Call center was no help, they told me twice that someone would call back and no one ever did. Great first impression, guys.

The service was fast and very friendly. The GAF material looks amazing on my house. The staff delt with my insurance company, and all I had to pay was my deductable. I highly recommend Empire Roofing to anyone who needs a new roof, especially with hail damage. Duluth, MN
