I'm so glad I decided to join CrossFit Staunton's group classes. I was nervous for my first couple classes, but I was amazed at how encouraging and supportive the coaches and other members were; they immediately made me feel comfortable. This gym is certainly a welcoming space for individuals of all levels, beginner to elite. The coaches are knowledgeable and fantastic at scaling workouts to suit individual fitness levels, ensuring everyone can participate and succeed. The atmosphere is incredibly positive, with a focus on personal growth and community support. Seeing the senior class crush their workouts is especially inspiring for me! Within three months of starting CrossFit, I added 20 and 40 lbs respectively to my deadlift and squat 1RMs and dropped over a minute on my mile time. I really appreciate that you can see the week's workouts in advance, so that I know what's coming up. This is great if you're someone who does some other sport-specific training on your own. The group classes are awesome for me, because it takes the tedium out of having to come up with my own workouts and then do them by myself. I really struggle sometimes with working out on my own, so being able to look forward to seeing other people and knowing I'll get a great workout keeps me accountable. And on a nice day, the view out the bay doors is so refreshing. I definitely recommend trying Crossfit Staunton! Less

I started Staunton CrossFit in 2016. I was 65 years old. Having been “moderately active”and “somewhat athletic” most of my life I went in there and tried to keep up with everyone else and got so discouraged. I almost gave up. The next time I went in I expressed how I was feeling and was pleasantly surprised to hear things like It doesn’t matter what level you’re on everyone here encourages one another. It’s not a competition and there are scaled down versions that you can do to get just as good as a workout as everyone else. 🤩 I have continued ever since and am a much stronger person than I was when I was in my 30s and 40s. I’m not really into “weightlifting “bench press and back squat are my favorites. Overhead lifts are hard for me so the coaches scale that down I do what I can and it’s OK. Anyone that has a injury of some sort or soreness in a muscle they don’t push you. They work with you to change the movement to get a similar workout without stressing your affected area and giving it time to rest. If you come in there and it’s not a good day and you don’t really feel like pushing yourself the coaches say You do what you can today. The coaches really do know the proper way to do lifts and workouts. They really do - if they see that you’re lifting wrong they will show you the correct way that makes the lift easier for you.You’re embraced in the CrossFit community and by the way for us seniors that just want to get out of the house and meet some new people and move some to feel better they also have a senior class. I would encourage you to check it out. If “people “ aren’t your thing and you just wanna come in and get a workout and leave they have open gym as well but there’s always someone there on site that can help you through things or suggest workouts for you.Try it keep at it and you’ll be glad you did Less

After experiencing an overall improvement in my health and weight through better, whole food choices, I began looking at ways to improve my health at a deeper level, through fitness. I had spent time researching Crossfit on my own and then made that crucial "first step." I showed up for a beginner class at Crossfit Staunton (CFS). I will never regret that moment. Not only has CFS been integral in changing my physical fitness level and strength they have also awakened an inner strength in "who" I am as a 45 year old woman. I can do this. I am doing this. CFS has become a family to me. The instructors challenge me and motivate me, not against my fellow athletes, but against myself and my own perceived inabilities. CFS excels in training the whole body through proper form and technique, varied levels of workouts and that all important component of mobility! All workouts can be scaled for every one, regardless of your level of physical health and ability. Trust me on that one. Beyond the highly trained, capable instructors, is the community of CFS athletes who inspire and spur one another on to greater achievements physically and personally. The thing is, you would be amazed what you CAN do with a little extra effort and encouragement! Every time I leave the box, I feel like I climbed a little bit higher than the time before. The constantly varied workouts are helping me strengthen muscle groups I didn't know I had, and increase my overall flexibility. And I've been amazed to realize that the workouts seem to actually help my fibro pain! I don't know what you may have heard about CrossFit, and I can't speak for any other box, but I can tell you that the coaches here at CFS are completely focused on helping you become a better you. They are competent, knowledgeable, engaged, and most importantly, they are kind and encouraging. Less

This place is pretty cool, Phil and Jason are very welcoming and made me feel like i wasn't from out of town. I thought it was cool that they incorporate a lot of different things that i'm not used to like tire flips, or the use of concrete balls. Keep up the great work guys.... More

Crossfit Staunton is more like a family than a gym. Everyone (coaches and members) are very friendly and helpful. Im sure you have read and seen articles about Crossfit and could easily feel a little intimidated to try it. But I would say try it anyway. This coming from a 40 year old over weight female.
