Any parent who reads this will understand the unique challenges addiction presents when it’s your own son or daughter putting their lives at risk every day. When faced with the counter-intuitive decisions a parent must make to stop enabling their child, we struggled with insecurities. One can read all the books and go to meetings and get therapy and we’ve done all these things over the past 15 years. They were helpful endeavors, but we needed more when our grown son had a dramatic relapse after 6 years of sobriety.
