Lisa put my daughter at ease straight away, fidget toys on the desk ready for her! Lisa has a confident, knowledgeable, natural way about her and the amazing rapport she struck with my daughter was immediate. This meant she was relaxed and the assessment flowed so smoothly. We had a 'brain break', 🧠 and came back for the lense assessment. WOW! Lisa is so good, she went through the tints and 'just like that' we had the new lense colour. To see my daughter smiling with the lenses over her eyes was so emotional, we know these new glasses are going to make a huge difference in her life. When the old glasses 👓 stopped working a couple of years ago we went back to her original diagnostician for a tint review. In total we went back FOUR times, the first one was 3 hours, then the others were around 2 hours, it was excruciating. These appointments left my daughter exhausted, disappointed and feeling like SHE had failed. It was so difficult to watch her go through that, both of us thought that she would always have this struggle. Our experience with Lisa at Visual Consultancy Ltd could not have been more different. We left feeling elated, excited and so positive 😊 Less

An absolutely incredible service, very thorough, knowledgeable, thoughtful and reliable. The best I’ve come across yet. Thank you so much!

I’m not sure what I was expecting from our appointment with Lisa, but I actually found the process quite emotional. Whilst I was pretty certain Lily had visual stress, we had never really sat down and discussed in any great detail quite how Lily experiences text and lines on paper. Lisa spent time both rapport building and exploring Lily’s symptoms, before working out which overlay was most helpful. Lily was uncertain as to whether she wanted tinted glasses, and, to her credit, whether she wanted us to spend money on something she might not use. Lisa allowed Lily and I time for private discussion following ‘stage 1’ and there was zero pressure applied about whether or not to continue with the process. Continue we did however and I am so very pleased we did! Lisa systematically worked through a spectrum of lenses (based on the colours Lily had identified as helping as overlays) to settle on the best lens combination for her; a light peachy colour and a light grey, plus a UV filter lens. Lisa then set about checking the impact. Watching Lily firstly struggle (without the lenses) to read, making mistakes, jumping lines and generally it all feeling a bit laboured, in contrast to the smooth, flowing, error free reading whilst wearing the lenses was really quite emotional. To see Lily’s response at the ‘ease’ of reading was pure delight. Lisa was reassuring, light hearted and supportive throughout. Lily came away feeling totally positive about the whole process. I have always felt, more than a pang of sadness and disappointment that Lily has not yet experienced the wonder of getting lost in a novel or the relaxation that comes with being totally immersed in a book. She now, for the first time sees this as a possibility. We have yet to receive Lily’s glasses (she needs an updated sight test first) but on a short break to London this week, she ASKED to go into Waterstones to buy a couple of books to read!!!! Today, I walked into her room to see a little pile of books on her desk. When I enquired as to what they are doing there, she replied that they are they for her to read when she gets her glasses!!! Who knows whether she’ll read them all or not, but the fact that she believes she can is huge! My only disappointment with the whole process is that I didn’t do it sooner. Less

I recommend Lisa and her company to anyone looking to be assessed. We are very happy to have found Lisa and her team. My daughters confidence since this process has just grown. We can't thank Lisa enough. Less

I took my 8 year old daughter (year 3) to see Lisa at the Brighton regional clinic on 27th March 2022 for both stage 1 and 2 assessments for overlays and lenses. She’s always struggled with reading and as she gets older it is getting increasingly more noticeable about how difficult things are for her at school. She has sensory needs and high markers for dyslexia and needs a lot of support. After doing a lot of research into dyslexia, I came across Visual Stress/Irlens Syndrome and realised that my daughter may be suffering from this too. She was given a yellow overlay at school but it never really helped her so with what felt like no other choice, I knew I had to get her assessed. She did stage 1 which took around an hour and then after an hour break she was assessed for her lenses which took around another hour. It was found yellow was not her colour at all but a peach colour! If anyone has any doubts, please take your child or yourself to be assessed. I saw first hand how my daughter struggles with text and lines and I saw the instant improvement with the lenses. It made me feel quite emotional to think how hard she was finding day to day life and something so simple helps. It will be life changing for her. For those with children under 16, you have to get glasses first without any coating on the lenses. We struggled getting this with Specsavers but our local independent opticians were more than happy to help. We received the glasses with the coloured lenses today and my daughter won’t take them off. She loves them so much and can’t see any colour through them at all. It shows how much they’re helping her. Lisa, please keep doing what you’re doing. You’re changing lives and giving people the chance to reach their potential who may otherwise be failed by the system. Less

We recently returned for a re-assessment as my daughter is now 15 and has mentioned that her glasses weren’t working as well as they had. This time, the process was longer and more complicated but Lisa’s professionalism, encouragement and positivity never wavered. It is impossible to overstate how great she is at what she does and the difference her diagnosis can make to a person with visual stress. I would not hesitate to recommend Lisa and Visual Stress Consultancy. Less

I came home from the training and she was one of my practise runs, I never expected her to have VS at the time… although when I look back the signs were there - saying she had read books like Harry Potter, but being able to see from the books she hadn’t… coming home from school and re-reading the work she was doing in class. She collected her new glasses yesterday, after seeing Lisa at Visual Stress Consultancy Ltd this morning she was so excited to tell me ‘I read over 50 pages last night, without falling asleep AND remember what I read!’ 🤩🤩🤩 Having seen both Irlen and eqilens in practise we much prefer the Eqilens method, used by visual stress consultancy, over Irlen - same outcome lens-wise just more personalised and knowledgeable, excellent with SEN, less long-winded and my kid’s enjoy it - plus their lab is in the UK! I first contacted Lisa when I discovered driving at night and working became almost impossible. Working on a stage, where stage lighting flashes and strobes almost constantly for a couple of hours a night started to cause me headaches and in some cases dizziness. Then I would face the dreaded drive home where other car headlights would dazzle me and make matters worse. When I first contacted Lisa she was reassuring and gave me some short term solutions until I could book an appointment. At every step of the way it genuinely felt like she had my best interest at heart. Once I got in for an appointment, she really took my situation into account and tested me for multiple things to make sure I was not only getting the right diagnosis but the right treatment. Lisa is clearly an expert in her field and she really did go all the way to take care of me. My glasses are comfortable and as someone who has never worn glasses before she was very supportive with how self conscious I felt about this. I can now work and drive with no issues. I cannot recommend Lisa and Visual Stress Consultancy enough, a fantastic individual/company that I took great pleasure in dealing with. Thank you Lisa!!!! Less

Lisa was thorough and understanding, she explained everything in detail and clearly. Lisa showed us how her advice will enrich my daughter's life. The whole process from first contact (lots of questions from me) to booking the assessment and it being carried out was easy and pain free. Lisa has consistently put me at ease and taken the time to answer my many queries without a bother. We are very very happy with her. *Update - 29/12/2018* - My daughter received her tinted glasses today. Within minutes, she was reading signs and price stickers in the shops as we walked back to the car (my daughter sees words as "evil" and avoids all reading). I noticed her behaviour was much more calmer, not the usual bouncy, giddy walk done whilst swinging on my arm. My daughter has had the glasses on for about 2 hours now and says she feels less stressed, she can read the text on the game on her phone and she can hear better. I am super excited to see changes in her life in and out of school as a result of the assessment and glasses from Lisa. *Another Update 30/12/2020* - My daughter now has a new pair of glasses with different tint colours as a result of a reassessment with Lisa. The reassessment was required due to changes in my daughters behaviour (fidgety/tempermental/inattention/clumsy) and due to puberty/hormonal changes. It has been 18 months since our first assessment and the changes in my daughter have been phenomonal. Having visual stress alongside severe dyslexia means certain things are always going to be a bit more difficult but armed with her glasses my daughter has been able to face challenges head on. She has worn the glasses every single day from waking to sleeping. I am glad that i was able to recognise old behaviours returning and that Lisa was so accomodating in making us an appointment as soon as possible for a reassessment. The new glasses arrived quickly and changes happened almost immediately with my daughter and she is back to her happy go lucky ways again. My daughter reads almost every day (for pleasure), she still doesn't like writing much and so is learning touch typing. With the glasses we don't need to bother with overlays, the colour of paper/ink etc and my daughter is more willing to try new activities now (paddleboarding!!). If you have any queries about visual stress or not sure if you or your child should have an assessment, I encourage you to contact Lisa. Having personal experience of visual stress as well as this being her business means you will always get the best advice. Thank you Lisa. You know that me and Tess think you are the greatest. Less

Watching the process is just fascinating and the impact of finding the right colours is amazing. Alex keeps telling me how much he is looking forward to his new glasses - ‘I cannot wait to get my new colours, they just make the world look perfect and clean again AND the letters and numbers will stay in the right place again!’ Taking Alex to see Lisa, has honestly been life changing, not just for Alex but for all of us. He is so much calmer, happier and more able to regulate his emotions, more confident and after having made little progress at school, he is now rapidly catching up. He can see textures in the environment (I had no idea he couldn’t before he got his glasses!), can finally catch a ball and is much less clumsy! Lisa is brilliant at what she does, wonderfully knowledgeable and makes what could be a daunting process, relaxed and fun! Less
