My son started taking lessons in June 2025 and we love this place. He’s a timid kid and coaches are patient and kind. We’ve tried other sports and the vibe was super competitive and stressful for a 5 year old. Nishime Martial Arts coaches are always building kids up and my kid loves achieving his next stripe. His confidence has grown so much and it’s helped in areas outside of karate, too. This is a bit of a drive for us, but 100% worth it. Highly recommend!

I have 2 kiddos in the mighty mites program. The instructors are very knowledgeable and patient especially with my son who is difficult. My kids are always excited to join in on class. I have seen a substantial increase in my daughters confidence in herself and her ability to stick up for herself and her friends. The program not only teaches self defense but discipline, confidence, courage, team work, Japanese and temper management. This is the place to go in NKY for a quality program.

Our daughter absolutely loves and looks forward to the days that she has jiu jitsu class. She has learned so much already in such a short time and we’ve noticed a big boost in her confidence. She has finally found something she’s passionate about! Shihan Jason does a great job at creating an environment where the children are interested and motivated to learn.

The family is very nice. My daughter looks forward to going to her karate classes every week. They do an amazing job at keeping the kids entertained. We love the activities that they put together to win prizes.

My son started going to Nishime Martial Arts about a little more than a year ago and karate has become his constant favorite activity. The practice is great and the instructors are knowledgeable and super nice. The dojo also has several fun activities for the kids throughout the year. Logan has been taking classes here since he turned 4 and loves it. They do a great job at making it fun and easy for the little ones to focus. He has really come out of his shell and has learned a lot. I appreciate that the Nishime family has put a lot of effort into improving communication and organizing events for everyone to enjoy!

I have been participating in the Adult Karate program at Nishime for a number of years, and just recently started the Adult Brazilian Jiu Jitsu program. I can’t speak highly enough about how Nishime Martial Arts has transformed my life from all aspects - mind, body and spirit. As an older adult, the Nishime family and my fellow practitioners have been very accommodating, it is truly a “Family First” environment, and I would encourage anyone who wants to improve themselves to come and be part of the Family.

Our son has been going to Nishime Karate for about 8 years. He has done other sports, but loves karate the most. The instructors are extremely skilled, with years (some, even decades) of experience: they know exactly what to teach, how to do it properly and safely, and when the students are ready to learn more advanced techniques. At karate class, our son has always had regular contact with adults, peers, and younger kids, and because of this he has learned to communicate and interact with people of all ages. Through Nishime, he has had the opportunity to develop athletically and compete locally and internationally, but perhaps most important of all, it is thanks to Nishime that he has discovered that participating in this sport is not just about himself - it is about being willing to accept instruction from senseis, coaches, and peers, and then sharing his own time and knowledge with others as well.

Nishime Martial Arts stands true to their word. They truly are a “tight-knit martial arts family that takes great pride in teaching focus, self discipline, and respect” through martial arts. Not only have I seen my daughter’s skill level improve, but she has really gained confidence since she started.
