I have eaten here before however, the establishment has fallen off and I will never eat here again. I found hard plastic pieces in my steak roll. Hard and big enough for me to choke on.

Normally I would support this place. But now I will say I'm very disappointed in this situation they have put in. Right now we are living in a hotel and I asked for two smaller pizzas boxes because it's easier to separate for three people. They were like we have to charge you extra for the boxes yet it's no different than getting your order to go I don't see them charging for that

I ordered the food through takeout. The food was disgusting! I wasted $60. The chicken wings were rubbery- too much skin and the pizza was blah. I will never order from them again. Yuck!!!!! Disappointing.

Dined in for the first time on Monday. I ordered the spaghetti and meat sauce with meatballs. They say be careful of what you ask for. When the server brought my food, it was enough for 2 people. They have the best spaghetti in the state of VA. Next time, I will order just the meat sauce cause the meatballs are huge. I would rate it a 10+.

Had the Chicken Florentine and the Chicken Parm. The food was delicious. Would definitely go back for the food. The establishment surprised me, I was expecting a little more intimate setting. Maybe they should of opened up the other dining room area. Again for price and food. Good Deal.

One thing we got on our visit was a Portabella Traditional Pizza. It was just average! However, it was covered in so much cheese. We later discovered it had almost three layers of cheese and it appeared they might have messed up on our pizza and was covering it up. Then we found strings of black hair in our crust! Stopped here today after a trip to nearby Dorey park, what a great restaurant, great food, service was excellent, wife wanted to go somewhere else but I convinced her to try this place, glad we did, Saturday was 20% off day, we paid less money for better food than local fast food place. Hidden gem in Varina! We LOVE this place! The portions are large. The coffee is excellent. The drinks are generous. The prices are reasonable. Specials are posted outside. Saturday is 20% off entrees. If you order a salad, we recommend the house dressing. We always buy a bottle to take home. It's delicious!

Keri was our server and she was wonderful. The food was top shelf and the lunch specials were amazing. Don't look further, stop and eat here!

The staff was wonderful, very friendly, and the food was incredible! The bread was homemade and right out of the oven. I was with a group and everyone in the group shared how delicious their dishes were. If you haven't been, you are missing out!

This was an incidental find on a road trip. We each got a wrap. I got Italian and my husband Chicken Bacon Ranch. They were both grilled which was a nice touch. This is a nice restaurant if you're looking for Italian cuisine. The service is very good and the food is delicious and very affordable. It is handicap friendly and special seating is available. You can dine in, take out or use Grub Hub. Portobellas is closed on Mondays.

My FAVORITE Italian restaurant. Food always great. Service is wonderful. Last visit ate in. Had a waitress want to say "Candy" hopefully I didn't mess that up. The picture is of tortellini allapanna, amazing also had the shrimp and crab ravioli also very very good. Started with calamari fried perfect. Nice and light not chewy. Rolls are made fresh every day. Worth a visit for sure. Hidden gem.

This most recent visit had me return to the store because of undercooked food. I understand that this can happen, but to be asked to bring it back so they can cook it (the returned item) again was disappointing. When I made the extra trip back to the restaurant to exchange my picked-over food for new ones, the staff kept looking at me (no mask/inadequate coverage) and one appeared to be eating where the prepared food is held. After she finished eating, she finally brought my food to me and opened it after goodness-knows-what happened behind the boxes. She asked if I wanted to check it, which was impractical because that meant that I would have to tear it open right there vs. feeding my family a whole item. After many years of visiting and supporting this business, dealing with the extra charges, and diminishing food quality, I'm done. Bypass this restaurant, it was amazing years ago, but this is just sub-par at best now. Less

Tonight called in an order of chicken primavera with thickened sauce. Get home open it up and sauce is like water. Poor service for 2nd time. Had similar service few months back. I won't be returning!!!

We bypass a lot of pizza places in Mechanicsville to come to Portabella. Food and Service is always great.

Edited: There are a lot of options for Italian food much closer to my house (Carinis, Romas, Roberto’s) but we drive 15-20 minutes because portabellas is the best!!! My favorite is the eggplant parmesean (always cooked through and soft, delicious) and my boyfriend the chicken Alfredo. Love the house dressing. Ordered a steak and cheese wrap with steak, provolone and mayo only. Once I got home to eat the food it was loaded with salt!. The food was awful. If the restaurant reads this, please advise kitchen to not add salt to food! Other food was great!
