I was around 40 years old and I was loading limbs into the back of my pickup to burn on the other side of the property. Being I worked at SRS I knew to keep the load close to my body all the proper lifting techniques etc. But I made the mistake of leaning forward and lifting the big heavy limb just a little further into my truck when I felt just a minor pull in my back. For the next 3 years, I lived with this pain like a toothache. I kept thinking it would go away and it slowly would get better but every time I would do anything requiring me to be on my knees like roofing or as simple as changing out the pressure switch on a well or just an easy receptacle change out, I would start the pain over again that would last for weeks sometimes months. Then while at work at SRS one day a friend of about 25 years told me of his mom’s story of being a nurse and hurting her back and retiring early because of this. But after a few years of not being able to do anything, she enjoyed hearing about this traction-type machine they were using on astronauts when they returned from outer space that helped their spine decompress. The friend’s mom had tried this procedure at a local Chiropractor in Columbia S.C. and it had worked so well that she went from being on a walker to volunteering back at the hospital she had worked at several days a week. Being this was not a script from someone trying to sway someone to sell me and being I was in pain I checked into if anyone local had this type of equipment. I tried a few other Chiropractors around Aiken that didn’t have the same equipment that did give me some minor relief. This only kept me searching for this new type of technology. That is when my research led me to Dr. Christopher Etheridge. On my first visit, I was shocked at the detail of the imaging he did and the amount of time he spent explaining every detail of what I had going on in my specific body that was causing the pain and then setting a specific plan just for my body. This was different from anywhere else I had been. After about three visits I felt like a new man with no pain. I was slow to go back to any heavy type of work at first. But not being in pain it was not long before I helped a friend with a roof, we worked all day and I expected pain the next day but I had none. I worked on things that had me twisted around and still no pain. Well needless to say not only did I find someone that got me out of pain but I will never think of Chiropractors the same. I also regretted not finding him sooner. I can go in and feel like I have a needle in my neck and walk out in no pain. I have sent many friends that were suffering to him that he has helped. If you had back surgery it is probably too late for Chiropractic care and he will tell you that, but if you are in pain and have not gone under the knife this could be a game changer for you like it has been for me. I think if I had not gone, I may have ended up under a knife. It’s not good to leave your spine pinching nerves for any amount of time(you know it is doing damage). They can’t do miracles but if you have been in pain as long as I was then you will think it’s a miracle the amount of relief, they can help you achieve. My advice if you have not been under the knife give him a try and you will know where you truly stand and not just from some doctor that makes a living doing back surgery! I am not against back surgery if you need it but wonder how many could avoid it if they got to a doctor like Dr. Etheridge soon enough. Great staff and service! Developed back and neck issues mainly due to my scoliosis, desk job and overall poor posture. I was beginning to have pain/cricks so severe in my neck in the mornings that I could not stand up, good way to start my 30s. After that happened 3 or so different times I decided to get with a chiropractor. Dr Ethridge is a great Dr, took X-rays on site and studied them. On the next visit, he thoroughly went through them with me and explained what was going on in my spine and what we needed to do to fix it, both on his part and mine. Ive never been adjusted in the past so my back and neck were very stubborn when we first started, the muscles and bones had been in the wrong place for so long the adjustments were not lasting very long initially, after the adjustments my muscles basically told my back “you supposed to be over HERE!” Usually the very next morning they’d be out again and in the wrong place. But I kept getting adjusted to the proper place and eventually the muscles began holding my spine where it’s supposed to be and i started to taper off my visitation frequency. With that said I decided to come in 4 days a week in the beginning, I’m down to just twice a week and soon will only be once a week. I have been coming for just over 6 months and we just took secondary X-rays which showed a significant amount of improvement. I've been under the care of Dr. Ethridge for just shy of 2 years now. I've been in a career now for the better part of a decade that places a lot of weight and stress on my lower back which had led to decreased mobility, an increase in weight gain from lack of mobility and ultimately headaches. Doc Chris and his staff are very knowledgeable of chiropractic care. I started going to Doc Chris because my girlfriend pushed me to seek care because of back issues. Doc Chris took x-rays and started adjusting me. The adjustments eased the lower back pain I had been feeling. Due to my working overseas, I unfortunately don't get to see Doc on a regular basis. I think if I saw Doc more regularly I'd feel better. My most recent trip back to get an adjustment I was telling Doc how my feet were always hurting due to work. Doc suggested custom fit orthotics, which he fit me for right there in his office. Now I haven't worn them yet but he assured me that they would help ensure that my feet won't hurt again. I'm excited to try them and will update later. Doc listens to my complaints and offers advice on how to make changes to ensure no more pain. Doc spends time explaining while he is adjusting. If it's a joint that hurts, he can manipulate it back into position, such as knees or hips or elbows. I'm thoroughly impressed with Doc and his staff. I won't trust anyone else to adjust my skeletal structure except Doc Chris! Less

When I first visited, I watched a video on the benefits of chiropractic care and how it improves the quality of life mentally and physically. I was educated on what chiropractic practice actually is and what would happen to me once I began adjustments. X'rays were taken to assess what need to be done and a plan was formulated. I had a mammoplasty to reduce my bust size, and once healed began visiting Dr. Etheridge regularly. The relief was immediate. I've been receiving treatment by Chris Ethridge and staff since December, 2019, and I'm very happy with the treatment sessions and the improvements so far. I'm always greeted quickly and warmly during check-in (I have two sessions per week), and quickly receive a "foot massage" in the waiting area before beginning my treatment session (an electronic foot massage device is available to all in the waiting room area). Chris always assesses my current pain/discomfort levels before beginning each session, and is thorough in his evaluation, and very specific/targeted in his treatment action for the day. The check-out process at the end of each treatment session is fast and efficient, and additional information is provided without hesitation (printout of upcoming appointments, recommended exercises, etc.). Chris is obviously very well-informed on the latest chiropractic strategies for my individual condition(s) (lower back pain, post-polio, neuropathy), and is very responsive to my descriptions of pain/tightness locations. In the past few weeks I've seen my pain levels decrease, and my posture has improved as well. With all this in mind, I'd highly recommend Chris and the staff at AlignLife Aiken for evaluation and treatment of any back-related pain, without hesitation. Years ago I received bad adjustments which resulted in me having spinal surgery to fuse L5-L7 together. Not good. From then on I despised chiropractors...until my brother referred me to his Chiropractor, Dr. Chris Ethridge. I met with Dr. Chris (as I call him) and went through the evaluation of x-rays and medical history. I explained to him how I was fearful and apprehensive of receiving an adjustment because of what had happened years ago. Dr. Chris listened and heard what I was saying and assured me that he would be gentle and use the "thump-er" if he felt I couldn't handle the drop-table. Well....that was the best day of my life I tell you! Dr. Chris adjusted me and he was indeed gentle. Dr. Chris worked with me over the next few weeks to help me overcome that fear of being adjusted again. Unfortunately for me two years ago, I was involved in an auto accident where someone sideswiped me. This resulted in me having yet another spinal fusion, this time in my neck, C5-C7. Again, not good. Well I had to wait an entire 12 months after surgery before I could receive any kind of spinal manipulation. When that time was up, I called Dr. Chris and begged for an adjustment. That's right...I returned to the Doctor who listens and truly cares for his patients. I will never trust another chiropractor except Dr. Chris to adjust my skeletal structure. He and Kameron are the best people around who make you feel like "family". I trust Dr. Chris with my life....literally.
