Very friendly and awesome place to learn BJJ. Lots of individual attention to all students, breakdown of all moves with repetition, segmented classes for those that are new to the sport and those that are more advanced and actively sparring, so you never feel overwhelmed. Super fantastic for kids to learn as well, team building and respect focused classes. Strong community. Highly recommend!

It took a couple of sessions but my son has not only enjoyed the program thoroughly but has excelled in such a short period of time. He stays focused and gains so much from each class. The support received by all coaches during their training sessions is outstanding and truly personalized for the needs of each child. Besides the physical training, my children have walked away with life lessons that they have been able to apply to their daily life. It has helped with motivating at home to exercise their discipline, independence and accountability. We look forward to every class and continuing to excel. It’s been an amazing experience seeing my son grow so much. Less

The class meets two times a week and it is a 45 minute session and there is a make up class if you miss a class on Saturdays or weekdays and vice versa. Prof Wil and multiple other coaches teaches the class, usually a total of 3 couches are instructing the classes and kids are paired up according to size and skill. Good behavior, listening and move execution are acknowledged and rewarded. The lessons learned in class is expected outside of class. Overall, this Prof Wil's program is great for kid looking to have discpline, exercise and confidence. Prof Wil is passionate about what he teach and you could see that in class. I highly recommend Training Grounds for kids and adults. Less

P. Wil & the team at Training grounds have been so supportive. They really make you feel apart of the TG family by doing constant checkins, giving great feedback, and introducing you to other members. They work at your pace to make sure you understand the new movements they are teaching and focus heavily on safety and progression

That quickly went away as you get a lot of terms and positions thrown at you which seems overwhelming but you start to put it together and make sense of their lingo. learning fundamentals start to click together the 4th-5th class and TG does a good job at progressing the skills for the basic class week by week. You can always learn from some partners more than others but all the regulars I’ve met at TG have been extraordinarily helpful, kind, and welcoming. Professor Wil’s enthusiasm about the art shows in his teaching and it rubs off on the entire gym’s atmosphere they keep it real but also harbor a safe environment to learn and grow. Everyone is interested in just getting better and seeing eachother get better. Highly recommend giving it a try, prices could be better but it’ll be worth it if you come consistently. - Ian Less

Our daughter is having the time of her life at Training Ground Jiu-Jitsu. She is loving it and her confidence is soaring. The classes are hands on and interactive with great instruction from experienced instructors. I’ve personally had wonderful interactions with Prof Will and Coach Peter, both of whom seem to genuinely care about the progress and development of our little one. But honestly, their entire staff is very involved during class time, follow ups and check ins. Since joining a few months ago, we’ve noticed that our child has become more confident and more likely to initiate when meeting new kids. There are still things we would like to work on but we’re confident that Training Ground is able to assist in developing those areas. If you are looking for an activity that teaches life lessons and creates stronger kids mentally, emotionally and physically, you should give them a try. Less

We are very happy to be part of the TG community!

As an avid mma fan, I was always interested in joining some sort of gym. One day I found training grounds, and after a short talk with coach Pete, I knew it was meant for me. Training bjj has been an incredible experience, one I look to keep up the rest of my life. And at TG, the teaching is incredible led by professor wil who guides everybody. I cannot recommend Training Grounds BJJ/MMA enough!

Our kids (5) & (6) have been taking BJJ since September and their growth both in skills and focus has been undeniable.Coach Wil and Peter (+team) are attentive, knowledgeable and have a way of connecting with the kids that encourages them and makes them want to participate. Our kids have fun but more importantly are learning valuable skills/life lessons.

I had a lot of injuries including 2 acls, patella and bicep tendon ruptures. 3 years ago, I was diagnosed with 911 related kidney cancer. I had Type 2 diabetes and was obese. I really missed BJJ but was very concerned that I was so out of shape and would get hurt again. I’d heard about Training Ground and in November, my wife, daughter (a college student who has trained and is also an accomplished wrestler) did a trial class with Coach Pete. I immediately noticed the welcoming, positive, supportive environment and found Coach Pete to be a very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive instructor who adapted to our different levels of fitness and experience. I joined the school and have lost 20 pounds and am regaining my stamina. I’m in better shape now than I’ve been in a long time and my BJJ skills have improved tremendously in a short amount of time. This is largely due to the great environment that Professor Will has created. I have rolled with students at all different levels and literally have not met a single jerk - everyone is respectful and very careful with submissions. My daughter is training also and there are quite a few very accomplished females students there also. I couldn’t be happier with my decision to start training again and choosing TG. Thank you Professor Will and team for having such a great school. I believe I have discovered the fountain of youth and plan on continuing to train for the rest of my life. Less

As a parent, it's always a joy to find a place that not only nurtures your child's interests but also contributes positively to their overall development. Training Grounds has been such a place for my 5-year-old son, who began his Jiu-Jitsu journey here just three months ago. The growth I've witnessed in him during this short period is remarkable. Not only has he improved in his Jiu-Jitsu skills, but there's also been a noticeable enhancement in his behavior, both at home and in class. He's become more respectful and considerate around the house, a change I attribute to the discipline and values he's learning on the mat. What really sets Training Grounds apart is the way Professor Wil and the coaching team approach each child. They have a keen eye for recognizing and nurturing individuality, ensuring that each young athlete receives the guidance they need to flourish. This personalized attention has been crucial in helping my son develop at his own pace, boosting his confidence and skills in the process. For parents looking for a constructive outlet for their children's energy, especially after a day in the classroom, I can't recommend Training Grounds enough. My child initially started with private lessons due to previous negative experiences elsewhere, which had left him with low self-esteem. These one-on-one sessions, with Coach Peter, not only improved his jujitsu skills but also boosted his confidence significantly. After just two months in the kids' class, the instructors, led by Prof Wil, recognized his maturity and excellent jujitsu technique. They encouraged him to transition to the adult class, which was a huge step forward. I can't emphasize enough how much the instructors at Training Grounds Jujitsu & MMA has positively impacted my child. Not only has he grown as a martial artist, but he's also become more confident both socially and physically. We are incredibly grateful for the supportive environment and skilled instructors at Training Grounds. Pros: Safe, beginner friendly, positive environment, knowledgeable instructors Cons: I honestly have nothing negative to say, I had a great experience here. Thank all of you! Less

An amazing place for kids to learn discipline and respect, and develop confidence and skills. Coaches Will and Pete are incredibly knowledgeable and take the time to ensure that every student feels comfortable. Every class is filled with great energy and positivity, and every time we leave, my kids can’t wait to go back.

Wil and Peter do a great job finding that balance between a fun time and a learning experience. We're a few months in and my son is still excited every time we head over to Training Grounds. As far as BJJ goes: I'm starting to see him try to incorporate some of the techniques into his sparring matches. He's young (started at age 4) but I could see these classes laying a good foundation if he wants to continue with BJJ. So far, so good! Less

Professor Wil and Coach Pete do an amazing job of making sure the kids are focused and learning while having fun. They expect proper behavior and show attention to each kid in class. My son absolutely loves going to Training Grounds and he is gaining a ton of self confidence.

We came looking for some help with his ability to focus, follow instructions, and to manage his emotions. We really like their approach to teaching the kids not just the moves, but about confidence, self-respect, discipline, good sportsmanship, good habits, and many other life skills. To us, that's more valuable than anything. They also have a great rewards system to motivate the kids and recognize their progress and efforts. It's a very positive place with good energy and its awesome to see the kids help each other (with Prof Wil and Coach Peter's guidance) when they are paired up. This is a great option for kids that are not into traditional team sports. Less

The transformation that has occurred in the short amount of time has been unbelievable . She’s more focused, has more self confidence and she takes more pride in her life, in class and out. The fact that the class teaches Jiu-Jitsu skills as well as life skills is what differentiates them from other studios. They are giving the kids tools to get them through life and to be able to stand up for themselves and their peers. I made an excellent decision signing her up with Training Grounds and I will forever recommend them to other families in the area Less

I’ve watched my youngest apply the coping techniques taught to him at Training Grounds off and on the mats. While my oldest has shown a tenacity I didn’t know he had in him during matches in class. To say we are happy with our decision to join the Training Grounds family would be an understatement. Less

The program is AMAZING. It is so much more than the physical Jiu-Jitsu training. Prof Wil and the entire team is there with their hearts! and it shows in every aspect: starting with the level of care and attention to details, through fun teaching techniques, a well-thought training plan, and last but not least - supporting the kids' emotional development.

The team in place truly cares about the kids they teach and get parents involved with obtaining the goals set for each child. Great place to have your kids learn self defense and have a fun time learning while they gain knowledge.

No more stomach aches to avoid schools, no more bad treatment from peers. Training grounds was a life changing for the all family. Beyond the sport, the coaches talk a lot to the kids at the beginning and at the end of each practice. Speeches are fundamentals about respect and control of self emotion. They are very flexible and responsive to your kid’s needs. I highly recommend that place. I wish there was more places like that and closer to home. I’m driving one hour (way and back) for a 45min class. But It’s worth it. Less

If you're looking to train BJJ look no further than Training Grounds. Ive been training here about 2 years, Professor Wil gives a ton of individual instruction and is always happy to answer any questions. He makes sure that everyone can learn in an enjoyable environment. I would recommend TG to anyone who's interested in training BJJ.

This is great program, both of our children are enrolled. In a short time, not only have they gained a higher level of self confidence - important life principles are being reinforced in each session. We highly recommend Training Grounds!

Honestly a great gym for anyone new to BJJ or experienced with it. The atmosphere is great and Will is wonderful. No one is there to try and hurt each other and everyone is there to learn from one another. It does not matter if you are purple belt or a white belt, you should never feel afraid to ask questions and Will and all the teachers at the school are amazing.

We are so happy we found this place for my son. It is slowing building up his confidence and self esteem. We love the talks Master Will has with the kids to teach them life lessons. Coach Pete is also amazing with the kids. Lastly, the way they teach the kids with funny stories keeps my son coming back for more every week.

We visited Training Grounds in 2021 with our two sons who were 8 and 10 at the time. The team was exceedingly friendly and our children knew almost immediately they wanted to sign up for classes. It will be almost a year soon, and our boys still love going to classes here. Professor Wil does a fantastic job of fostering values like respect during the training sessions. Training usually begins with calisthenics and then roll immediately into the daily lesson that involves developing a new move or modifying an existing one. The class (from the ones I've observed) usually breaks into pairs and the children practice moves with each other while the coaches observe and offer guidance. On more than one occasion a more experienced student will attend the class as well. It's truly a nice thing to see a young person with the poise and responsibility to coach another young person. I attribute this to the environment Professor Wil and his team have created. Class ends with Professor Wil speaking to kids as a group and going over a lesson for the day. The classes hit home on athleticism, skill, competition, sportsmanship, and at the risk of being repetitive; respect. Our kids really enjoy attending, meeting other children, and developing skills that help build strength and confidence. We enjoy seeing them grow into the sport and consider it money well spent. When we asked our kids if they wanted to commit to a second year it was a solid yes without hesitation or afterthought. Highly recommended. Less

If we could give this program 100 stars we would. The instructors are pure angels sent from above. Don’t hesitate doing a trial, it only takes one time to get the real feel and experience from this amazing group. Less
