I love CrossFit 1607! It is not your typical CrossFit box. The coaches are extremely knowledgeable and really pay attention to every member to ensure proper technique and appropriate progression. The gym’s equipment is top notch, always clean, and they have a lot of unique equipment that you won’t find in most CrossFit gyms. Outside of the typical CrossFit classes, CrossFit 1607 offers many other services including personal training, individualized strength and conditioning programs for whatever your goals are, CrossFit Endurance classes, CrossFit classes designed for younger populations, and a run/ruck club. All the gym members are very nice and welcoming. I would definitely recommend this gym to anyone in the area whether you are an experienced CrossFitter, a competitive athlete who is looking for personalized training and programs to get you to the next level, or if you are new to CrossFit/working out in general. I joined crossfit looking for a welcoming, but intense fitness community to replace the days of rowing in college. Crossfit 1607 has far exceeded my expectations. Never have I felt more welcomed, supported and encouraged in an athletic environment than I do at this specific Crossfit. The coaches are upbeat, knowledgeable and friendly, never failing to ask how we are feeling or make personal connections. Admittedly, I was hesitant before joining crossfit because some boxes have the reputations for pushing athletes past health and into harm. I also really appreciate occasional junk food and I didn't want to feel constantly judged. The coaches at Crossfit 1607 work with each athlete to find training that works for the individual. If you're a new athlete, there's an option. A seasoned crossfitter, there's another one. If you're like me and have a metal plate in your wrist, they built structures, modify movements and give advice on how to make the WOD more possible and successful. Even as an experienced athlete, I'm a good natured complainer and I often need a push to go to the uncomfortable realm of improvement. The coaches at Crossfit 1607 take my whining into stride and care enough to push me to the limits of which they know I am capable, but never to the point of injury. At the beginning of my crossfit journey (granted, I have only been there a month, so I guess I'm still in the beginning) much to my chagrin, Matt, Garrett and the others even kept me at lower weights until I could master the movement so that I wouldn't hurt myself. After all that I had heard of Crossfit, this was particularly surprising and made me appreciate the community of Crossfit 1607 even more. There is a continuous emphasis on form and warming up properly which of course, are essential for safety in heavy lifting. It is inspiring and empowering to be part of a community where the coaches know their athletes well enough to push them when they need it or support them when they don't. The staff constantly look for different analogies, explanations or movements to explain different exercises, which they cater to each athlete personally. They know I am a former rower and coach, so you'd better believe that I get a lot of analogies related to rowing. With every comparison and correction though, I am always surprised and honored that they took the time to try to relate to me. No one is invisible at Crossfit 1607. Everyone matters. Be they the strongest athlete the Williamsburg area has ever seen, or someone who has been a couch potato until the magical day that they walked into Crossfit, everyone will improve and be valued within this community. Going to Crossfit 1607 has become the best part of my day and I would whole heartedly recommend it to anyone interested in a fitness community. Less

I graduated from William & Mary a couple of months ago and Crossfit 1607 is one of the things I miss most about being in college back in Williamsburg. Crossfit 1607 changed my life - that's not an exaggeration. It gave me an excitement to progress in the gym, and with the help of such quality and generous coaching, I saw results both in the gym and in my overall lifestyle. The coaches genuinely take joy in being there and helping people. Crossfit is not for one type of person. If you have any off-putting preconceptions about Crossfit, I'd encourage you to still give Crossfit 1607 a try. I originally thought Crossfit was simply a good way to get yourself injured, but after a friend convinced me to try Crossfit 1607, the quality and attention of the coaching there proved that preconception to be false. I also didn't think Crossfit would be the best way for me to gain muscle mass, but funny enough, after years of lifting weights in the gym and never seeing material results, I gained 18 lbs of bodyweight after 4 months of hard work at Crossfit 1607. Whatever your fitness goals are, i.e. lose fat and build lean muscle, Crossfit 1607 will give you the tools to get there. I am now traveling around Oceania and Asia for a few months before starting a job, and thanks to the things I learned at Crossfit 1607 regarding cardio movements, weightlifting, mobility/stretching, diet, technique, etc., I have continued to improve my physical fitness away from a home gym. I am able to create workouts anywhere, whether it be in a proper gym, in a playground, or on a beach. I miss the coaches and fellow members there...I can't speak highly enough of Crossfit 1607 - this review doesn't do justice! Less

The owners and trainers set up a great program tailored to our needs. The rowers loved it. They become incredibly strong and raised their overall fitness while doing so in a positive, encouraging environment. Yesterday they had their first race of the season. In every event where one of our rowers who went to 1607 was entered, they beat all the teams from our region, which was a first for our team in each event. They took additional time after the wod to give me tips on learning to kip my HSPU. Their high quality coaching is what I am used to in my home box in Aspen, Co! Dropped in while visiting my parents in Williamsburg. Very friendly group and great coaching. Seem to know their stuff and class well run. On the smaller side but defintely all the equipment you'd need for a great workout. Picked up some mobility exercises to help with my tight ankles! Unexpected help for a guest, thanks Garrett! Will defintely visit again next time I'm in town :)... More

I'm officially sold. The coaches are fantastic: knowledgeable, warm, approachable, and fun. The workouts are incredibly challenging, but manageable regardless of your level of fitness.
