Edit: I am genuinely shocked at the aggressive response from the owner. It was my goal to provide feedback to improve the environment and atmosphere of the clinic- as patients and patrons hear and see quite a bit. I am however appalled at publicly saying when and where you’ve had a patient with a similar “name.” Again, I commend the one on one model of the clinic and think it’s a great model to follow. Many of my neighbors have relayed how much they have benefited from that. You have impacted the community in a positive way, as seen by other reviews. But your aggressive response shows that I made the right decision for supporting other clinics. ———————— I gave two stars for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, Penrose Pt has a type of care unlike other clinics. The one on one individual care is a great model. Having the time to talk to your therapist has been a great benefit to me and my progression. However, during an open house event I heard a fellow inquire to the high turn over rate over the last two years. And it's true. They have gone through multiple staff and providers. The owner attributed it to people moving out of state or moving upwards in their career. However from a patient to patient perspective, it's very different. I have overheard the way Jennifer Penrose speaks to her staff- in particular the technicians- and it is very belittling and demeaning at times. The staff violate HIPAA consistently as patient information is easily heard. Even the physical therapists talk poorly of the clinic. This does not inspire the patients that this is a healthy place to work or be a patient. For that, I give two stars. And no longer wish to financially support a business that does not treat their staff well. Less

I experienced intense back pain starting a year ago. I was referred to a physical therapy clinic that helped reduce the pain intensity but not the frequency. I had attended Dr Jennifer Penrose back pain seminar and asked to be referred to that clinic. The physical therapists at Penrose worked with me and helped me address the frequency and intensity of the pain. From the very first session my problems began to resolve. I've had very good experiences at Penrose, both with the Eat for Healthy Joints and Inflammation program and with my physical therapist, Rachel. The diet program helped me to lose 10 pounds while focusing on the right combination of foods to do so. My husband even lost 8 pounds in paying closer attention to his diet. Rachel listens to me and focuses on a variety of exercises to help me overcome my bursitis. She also explains what she's doing so that I understand. Each therapist I have seen has had a unique approach, idea, strategy to try as my neck heals. What a blessing to learn from each of them! I have learned how to use the traction device I was loaned, and had great success with a partly inflated beach ball to keep my neck limber. I knew from the very start when Ms. Hale, my therapist, spent 30 minutes with me just to talk about my overall health history, my current restrictions and what my goals were for restoring my previous activity levels, that there was a comprehensive, wholistic approach to developing a PT program tailored to my needs at Penrose. Then at the very first appointment she conducted a full range of measurements to establish a baseline and determine the types of exercises best suited for my pain level and how to work toward decreasing my pain. Once my orthopedic specialist determined what kind of surgery I needed, Ms.Hale recommended a pre surgery series of visits to strengthen my muscles that would facilitate a better/faster recovery from surgery. The staff up front are friendly and responsive to rescheduling or putting you on a waitlist for cancellations if you need to get in sooner. I just completed my physical therapy program here and it was great. Came in with a 4 part proximal humerus fracture (basically shattered my shoulder) and made my way all the way back to almost normal range of motion in just a couple months. Kasha and Nicole were extremely knowledgeable and kept a healthy balance between pushing for progress and slowing down to allow for proper healing time. My wife gave me a couple prepaid massages as a gift. When I called to make an appointment they had me on the phone a long time while they found my gift record, not too well organized I guess. I went to the first appointment and the therapist did a very good job. No complaint there at all. When I came for the next they told me after I had arrived, she had called in sick. They should have called me sooner but we rescheduled. When I called prior to my next appointment they told me I had to pay for it because I had no prepaid ones left, so I canceled. At that point, I'm just out a massage. Nine months later after the first of the year they start billing me for one massage! I called them and explained they still owed me one but the invoices kept coming. I put it in a letter but they kept invoicing me. Then I filed a complaint with the state attorney Generals office who also contacted them. They never responded to them either. Their office seems pretty poorly managed. Less

Owing to severe back pains cause by collapsed vertebrae, physical therapy was advised by my Neurologist (MD). My chiropractor (DC) strongly recommended Penrose. Based on her recommendation I had my neuro-doc write the referral accordingly. So far have been pleased with their staff (both therapists and techs). All have been attentive and (more importantly) have been responsive to my apprehensions and questions about this course of action, and have listened to my input. The appointments went pretty well. I liked them better than other physical therapists I've seen. But I'm taking half a star off for one problem, and 1 and a half stars off for a different issue. The half star issue is that when I ran out of the initial number of appointments I was told that they would submit paperwork to my insurance seeking approval for more visits, and call me when they got a response. That was almost 3 months ago, and I haven't heard from them. The one and a half star issue is the company they use for billing. 1) 4 days after I made a payment of over $200 dollars, they mailed a statement showing I hadn't made ANY payments yet. 2) That was the only paper statement I ever received. 3) They can't decide who I saw. I started off with one therapist, but they didn't come in early enough (I prefer appointments first thing in the morning), so I switched to someone else in early December. Never saw the first therapist again. Yet according to the insurance companies, a number of visits are being billed listing the first therapist, up to January 27th. 4) I finally received a text a couple of weeks ago with a link to a payment website. It asked a security question: What is the Number of your street address. I typed in all 4 numbers. denied. ok, my street name is a number, maybe the system is stupid. 4 numbers plus the street name. denied. switched back to the phone and tried just the first digit. That worked, so I went back to the computer and tried again there. Denied. Back to the phone, this time denied there as well. Finally it asked me for my date of birth, and accepted my answer. 5) Despite the fact that my insurance says it's paid out its share for all of my visits, this company shows no payments for my visits this year, and thus won't let me pay the copay on them. 6) after hitting the button to submit my payment, there was absolutely no option to print any kind of receipt. No confirmation number, no proof that I submitted a payment, nor how much it was for. Honestly, if I could take off 2 stars for the billing company, I would, but google won't let me do half a star, and the actual therapists deserve better than just 2 stars. But even if the insurance finally decides to approve more visits, I won't return as long as they're using whatever company this is for their billing. Less

This was my second time returning to Penrose for pesky shoulder pain. I admittedly did not keep up with the stuff i should have after the first time but caught it quick enough the second time, where my treatment was rather short. This time around, i worked solely with Patrick and Nicole and had another wonderful experience. I was given very specific exercises and stretches to complete at home (with videos and pictures) and within weeks, i felt relief. Everyone at Penrose, including the front desk staff, was wonderful.
