The price point was incredible compared to what I found for this light elsewhere. AK sells them for $75 with a Dauer MR16 included. A good MR16 will cost $20 or more alone and every site I have seen selling the icon to diyers lists the light for $78, with no bulb. I can't say enough about how good these guys are! My only complaint is they are in Texas and I am in Florida. But I will surely use them for design help and products as I add to my system and to install a new system if I ever move to a new house. Here is where it turns: After install was complete, they lead crew member handed my a manual and said "you need this to run the lights". He continued my stating to download an app which gave control of the system. However, it was apparent as I went thru this setup process that he had no idea how to set it up. Once I was able to figure it out (I had thought) they collected their remainder and left. Later that evening the lights did not come on. So a reset the transformer and ran back thru the steps in the manual. Day 2, the lights did not come on again. So I called AK Lighting asking for some help. I was told to send an e-mail and they would respond in 2-3 days. I called again after 4 days and now have complained enough to get someone to come back out.....In short, this business gives poor customer service, with poorly trained techs, and slow/no response once the invoice is paid. I got Christmas lights installed last November. I got quotes from 3 vendors and they were all around the same price but I liked the Gemstone best because of the warm lighting option. The crew was professional and clean cut. I even got a call from the manager afterwards a few days later (responding to a email I sent) which I thought was pretty cool.

AK Lighting installed Gemstone lights on my home a couple of weeks ago. When selecting the lighting system I considered Trimlight, Jellyfish, Everlight, and Gemstone. The primary reasons I selected Gemstone were the fact that the lights were RGBW rather than the standard RGB, they were brighter than the competition (23 lumens compared to 9-15), they have a cloud based application (some competitors do too, but not all), and strong warranty. And as a very happy side note, Gemstone was also cheaper than 2 of the 3 other options making the decision feel even better. Not only were they demonstrably better quality, but also a better value. That made it a win win. The brightness of the lights is probably the biggest selling point. The lights are bright enough that they cast a cool effect against the exterior of the home. The color of the lighting extends several feet from the bulbs and almost paints the home with the color pattern of the lights. It is really cool and the competitors just aren’t bright enough to cast that effect. If you don’t like the effect you can always dim the brightness and it tones way down. I’ve already had numerous compliments on our lights, so that is just a testament to how cool they are compared to traditional systems. As far as install goes they showed up on time and did the job quickly and efficiently. Adam and his associate were very polite, respectful, and personable. I looked into multiple options for permanent lighting. AK lighting was a great deal as their prices weee reasonable and the whole process starting from quite to installation was stress free. There are a few options out there these days for lights like Gemstone. I do almost everything myself DIY, but this time, I trusted a pro and I'm really glad I went with AK. The owner, Adam, is incredibly polite and professional, and his installers are no different. Do your homework and you'll conclude that Gemstone (and AK Lighting where I live in Texas) is the way to go and derive the most value from your purchase. If you have an HOA, as I do, there's a strong chance they'll prohibit you from using anything but warm white soffit lighting during non-holiday times. If that's the case, then your options are limited, and guess what...Gemstone does warm white and it's gorgeous. So, I get to use my lights 365 days of the year, and the terrific colors for the holidays are just a bonus. ;-) Less

I do not have an eye for design, had no idea how much light I needed (turns out it was not all that much, certainly less than I anticipated), and there was no way I was going to be the guy digging trenches or cutting into concrete. Adam's guys were professional, hard working, timely, and they did everything they said they would. From the installation to the integration with the already existing lights, to the transformer and mobile app support - I didn't really have to think about anything. The recommendations Adam made were all right on the money and (again) his guys were great. You cannot go wrong in hiring AK Lighting for your lighting needs. Even if you have landscape lights already -- if they were not done by a professional, they're probably wrong. We had landscape lighting (front and back) and a new sound system (back) installed. These guys did an excellent job on the installation and took great care of the areas they had to dig to run the wires. The flower beds were cleaned up nicely and there was no damage to any of the brand new plants that were just put in. Awesome job!

He also installed the new cutting edge LED Gemstone Lights on the front of our house. Check these out if you have not done so already. You can use these as house/ landscape lights, you can change colors easily by programming or using one of their many presets. The Gemstone Lights are pricey, but well worth it if you can afford them. Great Company, very professional. I had a section of the house that was difficult to access. Adam and his team kept trying until he was able to complete the difficult section even after I told him we could just skip that part of the home. I subscribed to his YouTube channel and started hitting the like buttons on his videos. After several I decided to write a comment and found he responded quickly to it. We chatted a bit, I told him my interest in doing my landscape lighting and he assured me that I could do it too. He even offered to come out to the house and provide pointers. I kept waiting for a sales pitch, but no, it was all genuine support and ideas. We visited maybe an hour and I felt even more confident after we spoke. I was going to tackle the landscape lighting on my own. He expressed his confidence in me too, but also offered to be there with any questions and support. Sure enough...a short time later, I did reach out with some questions. True to his word (a special trait these days) he was there for me with reminders and more pointers. Since he helped so much, I wanted to help him in return. He said not to worry about it, and I insisted. It was then he mentioned a document/course he created to help people like me.
