Our family of five stayed in the Canyon Creek Cabin. It is spread over three levels, and the kids loved having their own little hideaway loft area accessible by ladder. There are stunning views of the water and the Kenai Mountains from every level, especially from the balcony and master suite. The kids enjoyed the “treehouse” feel of the property and the authentic Alaskan decor. Books and board games were provided, which helped keep the family entertained. Evelyn, the owner, welcomed us upon arrival and was very prompt in addressing any questions or issues. There is also a new hot tub in the conservatory overlooking Kachemak Bay. We only ate breakfast in the cabin (as Homer has so many restaurants to try), but the kitchen was fully stocked with everything a family might need to prepare meals. In Homer, it is 100% worth booking the Danny J boat to dine at The Saltry. It is about a one-hour boat ride each way, and reservations are required. A truly memorable meal in an unforgettable setting.Bishop’s Beach is nearby for long strolls and seashell collecting. The Diamond Ridge trail area is a rewarding hike down to a remote beach with wild Alaska shoreline.Overall, we had a lovely stay at Canyon Creek Cabin. It felt peaceful but well connected to everything we wanted to do — beaches, restaurants on The Spit, local Homer bakeries, the Sea Life Center, hikes, and boating.
