We’ve been fans of the place since it was just called Amalfi. The name’s changed but the food and atmosphere are still wonderful. Would highly recommend any seafood item, but my husband loves the white pizza
Happy hour. Limoncello not half priced but so worth it. Best calamari.
I’m a local business owner and always pass this restaurant before going into work. I stopped by today for some lunch and ordered the steak and cheese and calamari. Absolutely amazing! The food was great and the gentleman who helped me at front desk was very nice and kind. I am definitely coming back for some lunch soon.
Food is amazing. Ambience is great.
Had the meat lovers Hemi pizza, and it was delicious!!!
It's always a great experience here. Excellent food, service, and atmosphere.
One of the best meals we have had in a long time. We celebrated my husband’s birthday. He had the lobster pasta and i had the short rib. My daughter ate the seafood linguini. All three dishes were amazing. Dessert was also incredible. i highly recommend you save room. The service was fantastic. Can’t wait to come back!

We first went to the restaurant for dinner to see if we liked the atmosphere and the food. We enjoyed it and reached out to the owner, Chef Tony, about using their space for our rehearsal dinner. Tony responded with an enthusiastic “yes” and proceeded to craft a four-course meal for our rehearsal dinner: appetizers, salad, main entree, and dessert. There were multiple options for all courses, including vegetarian selections. The staff the day of was incredibly courteous and kind. Honestly, I wouldn't change a thing about our experience. We particularly enjoyed the salmon and the tiramisu (Chef Tony’s grandmother’s recipe). Whether you’re wanting a space for a family event or just a great meal, I’d recommend Chef Tony’s Seafood at Amafli for either! Less
We ordered the Lobster Pasta and it was delicious as always. Now we are having happy bellies and life is good! Thank you until the next time.
Chef Tony's ALWAYS does right by me - food-wise and eating in-restaurant. Chef Sonia's desserts always hit.... I'm getting into this Hemi Pizza and I know it won't disappoint
Must try
I was looking for a seafood restaurant that served fried fish, so I googled and found Chef Tony's. One of the best seafood restaurants I've had the pleasure of visiting 😋 I'll definitely visit again and again. I'm bringing friends next time. Bravo 👏🏽 👏🏽 to Chef Tony's...Excellent!
Loved everything and Gladis was wonderful, will be coming back. The cannoli was my favorite thing because im a huge sweet tooth but the linguini and surf and turf were amazing too! My bf and I shared everything and it was the perfect amount of food.
I had my 50th birthday party and when I tell you Chef took amazing care of my group. Always excellent. I had about 50 people that attended.

Wonderful place. Food was great quality and natural flavors. Service was excellent.

Chef Tony’s is a nice peaceful restaurant for dinner and even drinks.
Only been on weeknights so it's been quiet and laid back. Food is great, and I appreciate the rotating menu of specials. Lots of dessert options too!
Went here with a group a little while ago. It was perfect for us, because the menu had seafood and Italian classics, so everyone could find something that interested them. The waiter and staff treated us with grace. The food was great and everyone left happy (and stuffed!).
Delicious dinner with great menu options. Love their signature Caesar salad. We then had eggplant Parm and pasta with shrimp. Large enough portion for two meals.
This is, undoubtedly, the TASTIEST restaurant you'll ever visit. 3rd visit. And every time is just as good, if not better, than the last.
Last time I invited friend to visit Chef Tony’s restaurant in Rockville. The seafood ( soft crab and crab cake) are fresh and delicious. The service is also very good.
We went on a Thursday for lobster night and it was a great experience. The lobster was a nice size and cooked well, service was pleasant and the ambience good. We enjoyed our meal and will be back.
Fantastic service and great food!!!
Very nice little place!! Small, quiet, but the chef knows what he’s doing!! Tasty happy hour appetizers… very well made and presented.
Great food, great service, great environment, good parking. Lucky to live close by.
Lovely dining experience! The bronzino and Crab stuffed shrimp pasta dishes are excellent! Quiet atmosphere and very attentive waitstaff (not overbearing though). I can’t wait to return on Thursday for Lobster!!
First time eating at Amalfi. Staff friendly and professional. We had the lobster, since it was lobster Thursday. Cooked perfectly. Appetizer fried calamari with basil, garlic aioli sauce- delicious. Dessert tiramisu with cream so delicious and creme brulee decadent. We will return again.
Authentic Italian place, love a couple of their unique small dishes, for example the grilled salad. Their square pizza with crispy but fluffy crust is very good. The food was delicious. But more than I could eat. But I still managed to eat a great dessert!
Excellent seafood dishes.
Didn’t see an option to add the pasta dishes as a recommendation but both pasta dishes were delicious. The oysters were delicious too!! Excellent customer service!!
The absolute best hidden gem for a delicious meal. Everything, from the soup to pasta to fish to the crème brûlée is fantastic!
Great food and service! Will be back!
Excellent dining and service! 4 of us dined there this past Thursday for their lobster night special. 2 raved about that. 1 raved about the halibut. I had the whole Bronzino which I can only describe as full of flavor and absolutely delish! Chef Tony does my fave prep of this fish. We also started out with an anchovy salad which we all enjoyed. Highly recommended!
Love dining here and will miss it when I move. The Thursday special is delightful and so is the staff. The prices are reasonable and the menu is varied. Will always come back when I'm in the area!
Food is always excellent! Their Caesar salad is amazing! Halibut, linguine and clams, grilled salmon - all to die for. It’s an unassuming restaurant in an industrial area, but what a find. I can’t believe I’ve lived here for over 20 years and just found this place! Highly recommend.
EXCELLENT Restaurant. I've been coming to Chef Tony's since 2012, and the food is CONSISTENTLY Great! I've done client parties here for 50 people because my clients know me to be a big foodie, and i've wanted them to experience what I consider to be a GREAT LOCAL restaurant!

Our waiter, Gaby, was amazing and gave excellent recommendations. The food was perfect. I'll definitely become a regular! They also have cooking class

They pay attention to you thoughout your visit ensuring all is well. I highly recommend everything on the menu, especially the deserts. Next time I will post pictures. SHGray
Great food in an out-of-the-way corner of Rockville
Gladis is a wonderful and attentive server! The happy hour has half priced appetizers. The calamari are worth a try! Alfredo is nice and garlicky. Lots of dessert options, I recommend the strawberries in grand marinier. It does not look great from the outside in an industrial park, but give it a try.
I had a craving for Detroit style pizza so we visited Chef Tony’s. Our table of 4 started with two Caesar salads to share and it was the perfect amount (they are big, delicious, and love the grilled lettuce!). We ordered a variety of pizzas and my favorite was the original cheese version. Would visit again if I’m in the mood for Detroit style pizza. Our server was also very friendly.
Chef Tony has done it again. An amazing place with the best seafood I’ve ever had. Tried the Trout, Salmon, and Cod and it was all delicious, especially the veggies on the side. The Bethesda’s Best Calamari is not just the best in Bethesda but the best I’ve ever had. Try this place, you won’t be disappointed
Gladis is a great hostess, attention to detail. Very polite and was very accommodating to our needs. This restaurant is cozy and beautiful! Got to meet Chef Tony! Food is amazing! Desert is incredible! We will come back again soon!
Excellent service and the Bronzino was delicious! You have to try the deserts as well. All our selections were great!
Excellent food! Excellent service! Pablo is wonderful.
GLADIS GLADIS GLADIS!!!!!! Food was delicious! Great environment! 10/10
Delicious food! The white pizza was so flavorful. All the pasta dishes were generous on the seafood and portions. Great service. Highly recommend!

Gladys was the best waitress and we enjoyed our experience at Chef Tony! Food was delicious and seafood was superb!
Gladis was wonderful!!!!!!!
Excellent brunch with amazing flavors. A perfect meal before the symphony.
I had steak kabobs with plantains and the food was really excellent. The decor however is so dated and tired that I won’t be back. I’d rather spend my money somewhere where I can enjoy the atmosphere as well as the food.
Pablo was handsome and an amazing server. He told us what to order but honestly the food was absolutely 💯! All of the food was made from scratch.....we will definitely be back again!!❤️

What really stood out was our server, Pablo, who did a great job handling our large group. The food came out in a timely manner, including desserts and the check, which was impressive given our group size. While not everything wowed us, the highlights like the clams and Pablo's service made our visit worthwhile. Less

I apologize for taking any pics but the food was 🔥! I had the filet mignon satay for an appetizers and the seafood linguini for the main course. Server was amazing and Chef Tony himself stopped by to check on me. They kinda picked on me for my Shirley Temple which was funny. I had a good time and y'all should definitely check them out!
We ordered a pizza for pickup - it was delicious. We were a little confused because the name of the restaurant we ordered the pizza from was not Chef Tony's Seafood. I'm not sure why there are two names for the same place?
Beyond disappointed. This was our favorite local Italian spot my entire life, until the new ownership came in. Don’t know why they even bother keeping “Amalfi” in the name anymore, because there’s nothing Amalfi about it.
What a pleasant surprise to find such a nice place hidden in the nooks and crannies of the neighborhood. Thank you to Pablo for making our anniversary brunch such an enjoyable experience. We'll be back again soon!
Trust me on this: save room for the tiramisu made in the restaurant & topped with this amazingly creamy whipped cream! 😋 sorry ... forgot to take a pic. The Detroit style pizza was awesome too ... the caramelized crust in a made in a rectangular pizza pan. 🍕 Definitely coming back for more when im in town visiting. (HEMI Pizza inside Chef Tony's)
Excellent food and excellent service with nice atmosphere. Really liked my red snapper on the daily special menu.
We ate in the party room in the back. The food was incredible. Service was great.
Unfortunately the new ownership ruined this place. The food isn’t great and they changed the recipes on the classic dishes.
The presentation of the food and the flavors just pop! They have a great selection of seafood and homemade dessert. Highly recommend.

Came here this evening to celebrate my mom's 93rd birthday. It is unfortunate that they kept the Amalfi in their name. It sullies the Amalfi's name. Keeping Chef in the name should have been a warning to me just like Chef Boyardee. Another bad omen was when an adjacent table send their food back because it didn't taste right. My wife ordered linguine with clam sauce and we specifically asked for gluten free pasta. Our waiter said that would be no problem. The dish brought out did not have any pasta with it. In the bottom of the bowl was a liquid that looked like dirty water, sliced onions and cold. I had to get up and find our waiter to ask about the gluten free linguine and he said that it was his fault for not letting us know that the only gluten free pasta they had was penne. There is no way an order of pasta can be brought out in one minute. My wife did not even touch it because the likelihood is that it was regular penne pasta. I ordered the spicy shrimp fettucine and 4 pieces of shrimp, served cold and with a sweet marinara sauce. No spice to it at all. As for service, lets call it no service. We asked for additional bread to be brought out, none delivered. Waitstaff did no come around to see how dinner was. Our party of six decided to try two desserts, cannoli and tiramisu. Two bites of the tiramisu were tried and the balance was left of the plate and the cannoli was just as bad. Over priced, cold, flavorless food, such a disappointment. You had to be hoping that keeping Amalfi's in the name would bring back the legions of diners that kept coming back over the years. Diners beware, this is not Amalfi's in any way. Save your money and eat elsewhere. Less

Then I noticed you could order food from here via delivery l! Yay! When I got my order, I noticed there was a good amount of lobster. The dish is a large portion size. And the it came with a warm zucchini side dish! THAT WAS SO GOOD! Things I didn’t like, the top of the dish was caked in breadcrumbs. I know some people love breadcrumbs, but these seemed heavy handed. The dish I saw online didn’t look like there were any breadcrumbs, which made me excited. So seeing that much breadcrumbs made me a bit disappointed. Also the flavor of the cheese sauce was a bit bland and there wasn’t a lot of it. Nevertheless the noodles were cooked well and the lobster was good! Less

This restaurant is one of the best Italian restaurants in the DC metro area. Service, food and staff are second to none. If I would ever end up on death row, my last meal would be from Chef Tony's @ Amalfi
Lovely spot for a special dinner. Seems like the restaurant is in a new location. We really liked the seafood stew and red snapper special. The flavors were extremely rich and brilliant. The use of beans and a broth that isn't too greasy or salty created a good soup to have after eating the mussels. The lobster was the real star of the show. It was the best, juiciest lobster I ever had with tons of meat, and they accommodated my request not to precrack it. The vegetables and potatoes served were it were a perfect accompaniment. Less

I even asked the waiter for more bread to stop up the sauce! The wait staff was attentive and very familiar with the menu, and made suggestions. Everything came out on time and cooked to perfection. They even did not flinch when we made special requests. Even the dessert was delicious. They have ample parking, a very nice menu (not all seafood, but take a risk, chef Tony's will convert you)! We had a wonderful evening at Chef Tony's new place in Rockville. We both had the Italian Paella which was outstanding and beautifully presented. We've gone to Chef Tony's for years in Bethesda and Pooks Hill and this is our first time to the new Rockville location. We will be back!
This was our first visit to the new location since doing takeout from the Promenade during the pandemic and we were DELIGHTED with the atmosphere and the same EXCELLENT food and service.
The food...quality and taste...is wonderful. I try to practice portion control by tsking home half of what I eat to maintain my weight. Not here. I scrape my plate clean. Much too good to "sacrifice" to a microwave reheat. Service is attentive but not intrusive. Definitely a "must."
I have been eating at Chef Tony's and Amalfi for many years and have always been very pleased and satisfied with them, of course Amalfi is new to Tony but still as good or better than before.
Fantastic food and service. I crave the lobster special on Thursdays!
The food and service is always great.
We had a fabulous birthday celebration here. We were literally greeted at the front door and the food was mouth wateringly fabulous. Service, too, excelled in every way. Thank you Chef Tony & staff! It was our first time here but we’re already counting the days until we can come back.
A group of us had a wonderful dinner at the Promenade Chef Tony's location last night. The food was outstanding. The appetizer mussels were the best I think I've ever had! I am quite sure the high quality of Chef Tony's previous Bethesda presence continues at Amalfi and I look forward to patronizing his newest establishment.
Chef Tony has long been one of Bethesda's underrated gems. The food and service are always exquisite.
If you haven’t yet tried Chef Tony at Almafi’s you are missing out on a treat. Wonderful menu and great service. It’s that warm family, Italian Trattoria feeling that we all love.
Please visit this restaurant you won’t be disappointed, food and service are great
Excellent food at reasonable prices. What more do you need?
Sadly, Tony still can't get the White Pizza right -- crust far too thin and toppings salty -- which was, of course, what 95%+ of Amalfi regulars ordered. And he seems too stubborn to change. If he did, nearly all of the "faithful" would gladly come back. We miss it.

Always medium rare and so tender and juicy. Over all of those years, I would return with my family multiple times for special occasions or just to share a great meal. As time passed, Tony began to recognize our frequent presence, so a friendship developed and we were introduced to Tony's boss, his wife, Sonia. Since the Bethesda location closed, we have been to both new locations, at the Promenade and the new Chef Tony's at Amalfi's. Believe me when I say that nothing has changed regarding the quality of the food, the friendly atmosphere and the overall charm of Tony and Sonia. Their love of food, along with a natural born charisma, provides them the opportunity to share that love with so many loyal patrons. Their pleasure comes from satisfying your appetite. That pleasure grows when you return. Chef Tony and Chef Sonia provide a unique and worthy dining experience. Less
Fabulous food at reasonable prices. GO!
Excellent service, and the seafood fresh, beautifully prepared, and Tony was “in the kitchen!”
Both locations are awesome. Especially with the high costs of everything these days. Chef Tony and his wonderful wife are flat out the best chef's in the area BAR NONE! Chef Tony's has been my favorite seafood restaurant for years when they were in Bethesda. It doesn't matter where the restaurant moves to, their food is the best!!! The Amalfi location is just a fantastic new chapter and if you decide to go you will not be disappointed. Simply the best!!!!
A truly awesome restaurant! The place is inviting, the staff are welcoming and the food is all amazing. The biggest challenge is saving room for the desserts, which are my favorite. Place is a nice couples place for a romantic dinner, but also great for a family.
We love the food and the warm hospitality at of all of Chef Tony's locations. We always choose Chef Tony's for our date night and have been enjoying this restaurant for many years!
A wonderfully Italian/seafood experience indeed.
Chef Tony's is a bit of a long drive for us, since we live in northern Virginia, but it's worth it! Food is consistently excellent, portions are large (we take some home and make another meal), and prices are reasonable. For wine drinkers, the half-price wine days are an especially good deal. Also, if you get on their email list, you'll get some excellent offers.
Wonderful food and ambiance.
Great food . Love the lobster dinners. We've been eating with Chef Tony since their first Bethesda restaurant. Wish you were still walking distance.
Great food and excellent service
We were always fans of Chef Tony's, and the new Chef Tony's Amalfi is even better! It incorporates the best of both venues, and the "new" building is a fun place to visit.
If you liked Chef Tony's in Bethesda you'll love the new Almalfi location. Same menu, same nice people. And you can park at the door.
I love the grilled Cesar salad and they still serve Amalfi’s mushroom tortellini which is one of my all time favs! If you liked the feel of the old Amalfi’s you’ll still feel at home here - I prefer takeout!
Great food, staff and atmosphere!
Our family dinner was of the same high quality that we have become accustomed to from Chef Tony.
A gem for our family - they have wonderful gluten free options and everything is delicious. We especially love their family meals (great value) and Lobster Thursdays. Support local!
You go for the food. All in on Tony's latest place - Amalfi. Non-descript from the outside, but warm and bright interior. Traditional Italian like only chef Tony can do. Great sauces with a modern flair, seafood is top notch, but so is everything. Go, Eat, Enjoy. When eating at a Chef Tony's joint, it's like Sunday supper with the family!

I had an Organic Scottish salmon dish with crispy plantains, cucumber salad that was finished with an herbaceous sauce. All the flavors were so unique and the food was fantastic. My husband enjoys the Filet Mignon Satay and gushes about how tender the meat is. Over our following visits we have sampled the mussels and pasta dishes. Sometimes we have come in for just the appetizers. Every dish we have had has been fresh, flavorful and worth the visit. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. Chef Tony has come to talk to us about him and his wife’s journey in regards to food styles and development. This is just one of those places that is more than just a meal. It is about supporting people’s vision and enjoying their passionate creations. You won’t be disappointed. Less
Great option for large groups or parties and always concerned with fresh ingredients and making guests pleased.
Very very good food. Expert kitchen execution! All plates are scrumptious! Portions are big and not too big, but plenty to share or box up and bring home. (But I always clean my plate :)
Great food and a friendly staff. Make your way to their “new” location.
Great food all the time at reasonable prices. The pizza is unique and tasty.
Chef Tony's is absolutely my favorite restaurant. It is a must every time that we are in the area. The food and service are always impeccable.
Chef Tony and his wife, staff and loyal customers are GREAT!! Only thing comparable are the wonderful tasty creative dishes served at the restaurant. Although I have moved out of the area, still make a point to tell others about Tony's place and when I'm in town, I make a point to go there. Just wish he could open a 2nd location in SW Florida!!!!! Tony...miss you and your culinary talents.

I haven't had the pleasure of visiting this location yet, but I am reviewing the original location and company as a whole. I love the food. It's creative and fresh. But the main reason I support this local business: Chef Tony, his wife and staff...they treat you like family.
Everything I have tried it’s just so delicious and well prepared. Friendly atmosphere. Attentive staff. It’s my husband’s and I to go to restaurant for Italian/ seafood restaurant
Absolutely love The Promenade location! The food is amazing! The staff is lovely as well!
Wonderful seafood, pasta and eggplant parmigiana. Couldn't be better. Carrying on the tradition of Bethesda, Pook's Hill and Amalfi's. I keep going back for more!
We had always loved “our” special place, Amalfi’s… so didn’t know what to expect in the 2.0 version. WHAT could be any better than delicious Italian food? How about great seafood versions of the menu!? Exciting to see this new , delicious blending. It’s STILL our special place…yum .
Always a great time w Tony & the team
Excellent seafood menu. Unfortunately nothing from the previous Amalfi menu, no pastas if looking for it. Will be coming back though!
Awesome pizzas
I really wanted to love this place. I "spoiled" myself for Mother's Day since I have to work and got carry out of Trout entree and crab cake. Rice, veggies and potatoes had no seasoning. Worst of all the crab cake was $31 and inedible because it was FULL of shells. Very disappointed that I spent $72 today. I can be reached if the owner wants to discuss a refund.
Very good seafood. Quaint, quiet place. Staff is very nice.

We forgot the name of the restaurant and when we finally figured it out I was so excited to eat my meal and unfortunately it was terrible. The Alfredo was not flavorful. I asked for grilled chicken and ended up receiving breaded chicken. Didn’t even have the right kind of noodles. Ordered cheese pizza and specifically asked if it would be with red sauce and after verbally confirming this I ended up receiving white pizza. Just not a good experience at all and I was incredibly disappointed. Less

I’ve been going to Amalfi’s since 1978. It’s currently under new ownership and I can tell you that it has never been better. That’s high praise for an establishment that has consistently been a wonderful Italian restaurant throughout the years. Last night I started with a fresh garden salad followed by chicken Parmesan as the main course. The service was great, very attentive. But most importantly was the quality of the meal. The chicken was succulent, the sauce was spot on, the pasta was perfectly cooked, and the spinach, which was served as a garnish, added even more flavor to an already delicious meal. If you were wondering whether Amalfi’s has lost a step under new ownership, let me tell you that it has, in fact, improved. The atmosphere is the same, but spruced up a bit. I do miss the Italian bread, but my son thinks it’s the same bread, only cut up into smaller slices. I did notice a significant amount of seafood options as well. Prices reasonable. If you go, I think you’ll be pleasantly satisfied. Less

Service was unobtrusive, pleasant, efficient. She suggested their chopped salad, which turned out quite delicious. Food was wonderful. We had surf&turfs and seafood stew. Steak portions came out medium-rare as requested; usually you ask for that and get something well beyond, so we took notice. Seafood, we were told, was also excellent. The 4 of us were very happy with the experience. 5 stars, we’ll be coming back. On half-price wine nites for sure. Less
Excellent! phenomenal seafoods italian restaurant! Great job Chef Tony and his team! Best ever restaurant in local. Highly recommend to everyone. No regret but will enjoy foods!
