In January of this year, after some years of being monitored, my optician advised that the increasing pressures in both eyes and the narrow channels in each meant that surgery was probably required. I had seen Dan Nguyen previously and had full confidence when, at a subsequent consultation he confirmed her view. I had cataracts, but they were not too developed but an incidental effect of the operation is that the channels widen and the pressures drop to normal levels. That is exactly what happened to me post surgery. Dan Nguyen suggested a spiral lens in the left eye and a complimentary lens in the right eye. I always had an astigmatism in the right eye and had worn varifocals for many years. Dan operated on my left eye in March and my right eye in May and the results are remarkable. I no longer need glasses to read, my distance vision and depth of field is excellent and a good all round outcome. The work was undertaken at Spire Wrexham and the team could not have been more welcoming, reassuring or professional. Clearly, Dan is held in high regard by the support team and quite rightly so. Based on my experience, I would have no hesitation in recommending Dan Nguyen, he is skilled, professional and approachable.

I recently had a double cataract removal and new lenses fitted to both my eyes by Dan Nguyen. The process from initial consultation, through all the procedures and post-op follow up was professional, courteous and conducted with great empathy, and with clear communication at all times. On 1st July 2026 I had an operation to remove cataracts from both eyes. Mr Nguyen replaced both lenses In a painless half hour operation which involved only eye drops. I recommend having both eyes done at the same time. The procedure was a total of 2 hours. I no longer need glasses for reading or long sight. Colours are brighter, outlines are more defined. I have no hesitation in recommending Mr. Nguyen who gave me excellent guidance and reassurance throughout the whole experience.

Last week I underwent cataract surgery and had multi focal lens implants at Wrexham Spire Hospital. Even though I was a little apprehensive,I opted to have both eyes operated on in a single session. Dan was very reassuring and professional, explaining everything he was doing during the procedure. The surgery was pain free and carried out much more quickly than I had envisaged. The results have been amazing! Although it has only been one week since my surgery, I can’t believe how good my eyesight is. I would definitely recommend Dan Nguyen .

From the outset, I found Dan an engaging, open and very reassuring person to deal with. I felt total confidence in him professionally. I was so looking forward to being able to see better but was in equal parts pretty terrified about anyone doing anything to my eyes.The op itself was a pain free experience, the most disturbing thing being the lights and noises going on around and the sensation of things happening. But Dan kept me informed all the way about what was happening and what I might expect both during and after the op.He also listened carefully to my concerns and questions and answered them clearly, which was great. I didn't feel rushed or pressured in any way.For anyone thinking about whether to have their cataracts treated with him I can only say my experience was wholly positive with him and the team at the Spire. It's a calm, cheerful place to be in (coffee excellent, by the way, and free!) The staff are relaxed, friendly and attentive. After my treatment, I was reviewed by an NHS consultant ophthalmologist who explained that multifocal intra ocular lenses are generally avoided in younger, active patients due to compromises in distance vision and driving performance. This context was not presented to me prior to surgery. Had it been, I would have made a different decision. I am sharing this so prospective patients can ask informed questions and fully weigh the risks and benefits.

Dan and his team were excellent throughout, from consultation to surgery, and aftercare. I was concerned about the procedure, but having had it now I can safely say it could not have been more pleased, it was a calm experience in the end. My eyesight has been great since with no issues at all.
