Two years ago, I started my fitness journey not realizing how many physical limitations I had. Working out was painful and frustrating until I finally went to the doctor and learned I had scoliosis, herniated discs in both my cervical and thoracic spine, and a severe anterior pelvic tilt that caused constant back pain.
Scrolling through Instagram one day, I came across a video about a new gym called TruFit. I had never heard of them before, but I decided to give it a try—and I’m so glad I did. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by Amanda and Ashley, who immediately made me feel welcome. Within just a few minutes of talking with Amanda, it was clear she had a deep knowledge of fitness, body mechanics, and injuries.
I began personal training with Amanda, and she completely changed my outlook on what was possible for me. She used body tempering techniques before workouts, sometimes spending more time on that than lifting weights, but it was exactly what I needed. Little by little, my pain started to decrease, my mobility improved, and I began to see and feel real changes in my body.
After four months of training with Amanda, I felt confident enough to work out on my own—but I still hadn’t tried the group classes. Honestly, I was intimidated. When I finally gave them a shot, I realized how wrong I was. The trainers pay close attention to form, mobility, and range of motion, making sure every person is supported and safe. It’s not just a gym—it’s a community. I’ve made wonderful friends here and feel encouraged every time I walk in.
TruFit is hands down the best gym in Georgetown. Amanda and John have built something special by hiring trainers who truly care and know their stuff. The community they’ve created is unmatched. I am forever grateful to Amanda for everything she’s taught me and for helping me push past my limitations.
If you’re on the fence, don’t be. Whether you’re dealing with injuries, starting fresh, or looking for a supportive community, TruFit is where you’ll find it.
