I realized I'd never written a review and now that we're moving it felt like the right time.I joined Orchard Valley CrossFit in Newburgh during a pretty big weight loss journey because I knew I needed to add strength training, but I was so intimidated. I'd never thought of myself as athletic, and the idea of walking into a gym full of people who looked like they knew exactly what they were doing was terrifying.I couldn't have been more wrong. From my very first class everyone was so kind. The coaches, the other cross fitters, everybody. Every coach has their own style but every single one of them is so encouraging, patient, and always willing to meet you where you are. They scaled workouts when I needed it, never made me feel like a burden, challenged me when I was ready, and taught me so much along the way.The people here make this place special. People are so helpful, celebrate every little win and somehow make you feel like you belong.I'll never forget getting my first fist bump after a workout. It was such a small thing, but it made me feel like I was in the cool kids group!I'm pretty introverted and awkward and honestly a bit of a weirdo, but I always felt comfortable being myself here.I also want to mention the Pride flag hanging in the gym. It meant a lot to know I was in a place where the people I love the most would be welcomed and accepted.I'm leaving stronger and more confident than when I first walked in and I'm so grateful for everything the coaches and this community have taught me. I’ll definitely be finding a new CrossFit gym in our new home and continuing CrossFit there. If you've been putting off trying CrossFit because you don't think you're fit enough or athletic enough, I was that person too. Go for it!Thank you for everything, OVCF. I'll really miss this place.
