I’ve been in business for over 25 years, running an electrical contracting company in Kent, slowly growing through many hurdles and challenges. Over that time I’ve used a number of business coaches and mentors, and most of them simply didn’t hit the mark. With the time pressures of running a business and being asked to do things I didn’t really understand, I started to believe that business coaches were just failed business owners charging exorbitant fees to “give advice.”Working with Liz and Jonathan from Chip25 since autumn 2025 has completely changed my view.They’ve clearly been through the pain of building and running businesses themselves, and it shows. They don’t just talk theory – they understand what actually has to be done day to day. They’ve taken the time to explain and guide me through my numbers and future plans in a way I can genuinely understand and use.The results speak for themselves: our numbers are now up by around 20%, and we’re on track to hit at least 40% growth in turnover by the end of the financial year. Profit has increased, cash flow has improved, and team morale is better than it’s ever been.One key area where they’ve gone above and beyond is with the numbers. Some of the information we needed was hard even to identify, let alone track. Before we could even start on spreadsheets, Liz and Jonathan helped me work out what we needed, where to find it, and then actually put the spreadsheets together at times so we could keep moving forward and think clearly about the business. That practical, hands-on support has been invaluable.Another big difference is their availability between sessions. If I’m stuck, they are at the end of the phone or an email – not just “we’ll speak to you in a month.” They actively work through issues with me as they arise.We have regular Zoom meetings (fortnightly), plus in-person visits to see how we’re doing. They don’t just check in; they challenge me and my team, push us to think differently, and support us when things are difficult to understand or implement. Together we’ve been able to put practical projects in place that are giving the business much clearer direction.With their help I’ve taken on another team member as admin back-up – starting at 2 days a week and now up to 4 days a week. That’s allowed me to step back a bit from the day-to-day admin and focus more on growing the business. My hours are still “entrepreneur-level crazy,” but there is definitely a bit more breathing space and a glimpse of a better balance.Liz is my main mentor, with Jonathan as the sidekick who really understands the construction world. Their style is direct and no-nonsense, but also patient when it matters. It’s been a challenging period, and Liz in particular is very good at knowing when to slow things down and haul Jonathan back a bit so it stays manageable and focused.I’m beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel now, even though I know there are still many miles and challenges to come.Thank you, Liz and Jonathan, for the journey so far. I’d recommend Chip25 to any business owner, especially in construction or trades, who wants honest, experienced support that actually delivers real results.
