Having tried hand OT and a revisit to the hand surgeon who said all looked fine from an arthritis standpoint, I was still looking for relief when a trusted counselor recommended I see Dr. Angie. I’m so glad I did! My pain in that hand has subsided since seeing her and I am able to accomplish more day to day tasks as a result. Angie is generous with her time, providing videos and detailed guidance for self care at home and is readily available to answer questions. She is warm and kind. I would most definitely refer my friends to her for pain management. Less

Dr. deBorja was really helpful and I would really recommend her to anyone who has pain or discomfort, especially those who have tried other kinds of exercise or physical therapy without much progress. Manual therapy with her really helped calm down the little inflamed muscle in my shoulder. She's super gentle, there's no pain at all during the manual therapy, so much so that I wasn't sure that it would make any difference, but then the next day I would feel way better. She also showed me exercises I could do to address some underlying causes of the various pains I had, and I think the double-pronged method of manual therapy + physical therapy exercises was the right way to deal with stubborn muscle problems. She also emails you the exercises, with accompanying explanations and videos, and you can email her with questions. I was really happy to receive the care that goes into that kind of follow-up. I only got to see her three times, as I am moving away, but my shoulder got like 90% better, and as someone who's got a bunch of little muscle problems from being hyperflexible, I would totally keep seeing her if I were staying in town. Angie is a lifesaver! With her incredible help and knowledge she has been working with me to treat my severe lymphedema and has gotten me to a place where I can now safely walk up and down my condos stairs and travel to appointments. She’s always willing to answer any questions I might have. I give her my highest recommendation

Like so many others who have posted a review here, I have been dealing with pain for several years and never until now felt any lasting relief. I have to agree with others who have called Dr. Angie a miracle worker! I was desperate for relief when I contacted her, I could barely walk due to severe pain in my right hip/upper thigh, and could not lie on either side without pain, which significantly disrupted my sleep since I cannot lie on my back all night comfortably. Dr Angie asked lots of detailed questions during my consultation and said she was confident she could help me. Well, she was right - I got significant relief after just one session, and about half-way through my plan, I am doing SO much better! I can walk normally again with hardly any pain on flat surfaces and much less when going up hills or upstairs than before treatment started, and can sleep on my side at least part of the night. Before this latest pain began, I had also been experiencing gluteal and upper rear thigh pain on my right side when sitting on certain seats (especially when driving), and that has also improved. I'm not sure exactly what caused this latest issue, but in general, my pain has not been the result of injury or overuse (although I have always been active), which is what all standard PT practices seem to deal with. It started gradually after I began working full time from home due to the pandemic (my whole office went remote) and was sitting more than usual and not in a great chair for a long while. It has been on my right side, lower back radiating down the outside of my leg and has changed in various ways over time, but never gone away completely. I had been to several other physical therapists, seen a chiropractor, tried spinal injections. Nothing really worked, because none of those interventions addressed the root cause of the problem. Dr Angie's myofascial release seems to be the solution! I am so grateful to have found her! In addition to the pain relief and mobility I have regained, I have thoroughly enjoyed our conversations, and feel so cared for. I am adding my name to the list of those who cannot recommend Dr. Angie highly enough. If you have tried everything else without experiencing real relief, give her a call! Less

This may be a little long, however Angie is no run of the mill therapist. :) Dr. Angie is amazing! I’ve had chronic pain and inflammation for years. I finally found a protocol that helped with the inflammation and was ready to tackle the pain and increase strength and mobility. As I researched myofascial release I came across Angie’s website. As an educator, I appreciated the informative nature of her site. I learned about her, the John Barnes approach, read through the reviews posted on her site and watched several videos. I scheduled a consultation and I am so glad I did! Dr. Angie’s website mentions that she ‘empowers lives through expert care’ and that is exactly what she does! Even before my first visit she shared detailed information about her location, parking, restaurants and shops in the area and what to expect during the first visit. Her attention to detail is outstanding and highlights her professionalism with an obvious care for people. During my first visit she conducted a complete evaluation and asked questions about my goals, quality of life and current concerns. I felt improvement after the first session. She followed up the visit with a treatment plan including explanations and videos for exercises to complete at home between in-office sessions. My first visit was in January. By the end of my first package I was feeling fabulous and moving better than I had in years. She started by addressing pain and mobility issues in my ankle/ Plantar fasciitis as well as excruciating back pain. She uses a gentle approach and explains everything that she is doing. The surprising part was realizing that the cause of the pain often originates in another area. This created an understanding behind each movement and exercise that she gave me. Recently while taking care of a family member out of state I aggravated my back and sciatic nerve. I was able to utilize the tools and techniques that Angie gave me to make the pain manageable until I returned to MD two months later. During that time she would touch base and also recommended an out of state therapist. I didn’t make time to see them, but I appreciated the effort. Once I returned to town Dr. Angie got me back up and running. We are now working on a PT plan to support me while I strengthen my knees and workout without injuring myself, which seemed to happen every time I tried to work out. SMH. She is an integral part of my health and wellness plan. Her care for people, their health and providing information that empowers them to have a better quality of life is a priceless gift. She’s even recommended therapists for family members recovering from cancer treatments in two different states and recommended a therapist for me in California in case I need one while traveling for work! I give her 100/100 stars!! If you are experiencing pain, or looking to improve mobility and overall quality of life, make an appointment. It will be a game-changer. She is phenomenal! Less

I’m in my early thirties and have been struggling with hamstring tendonitis for about 6-7 months that has prevented me from being active. I initially tried one of the big name physical therapy places and my injury only got worse - they were so focused on just strengthening my leg that they never did any work on the pain and discomfort I was feeling and kept mentioning. After months of pain crossing my legs, kneeling/squatting, the inability to sit still for more than minutes at a time, I found Angie. I immediately cancelled my remaining appointments with the other company. She explained right away that we would work to strengthen my leg, but only after she spent some time working to relive the tightness, discomfort, and pain. Angie is a miracle worker! Unlike other places where you’re with a number of other people that can feel like a supervised gym class, Angie works one-on-one and develops a holistic personalized care plan. After every visit, she sent a detailed write-up of what we covered, things to do at home, and videos of her performing each move so I could follow along. She not only made me feel better but gave me the confidence to continue the work on my own. I have an upcoming international trip and have been concerned about my ability to sit still in cramped quarters for so many hours - but no longer! If you’ve been struggling with pain and are looking to get active again - reach out to Angie! I couldn’t recommend her highly enough! Less

Dr. Angela DeBorja’s physical therapy has been the best non-invasive treatment I have ever received. I came to her with extreme pain in my shoulder in an attempt to avoid surgery recommended by my orthopedic doctor. After two months of treatment and home exercises and finding that my neck, my back, and both arms were all part of the shoulder pain issue, there was great relief. As she worked her magic with myofascial release, movement was possible without pain. My range of motion increased, my mobility improved, and I learned that prescribed exercises were essential to maintaining a pain free routine. Gone were back and neck pain; gone was negative arm muscle tension, gone the reluctance to get out of bed in the morning. Now, we’re continuing to work on my arthritic hands and knee problems. What have I learned? Good posture eliminated many problems. Exercise is essential. Paying attention to the vast and complex system through which our bodies function is necessary to maintain control of our bodies. A word about “Angie”: she works constantly to improve her knowledge and, thus, her skill as a physical therapist. She is gentle, charming, and heals more than aches and pains. On occasion, when meeting another patient of hers, we can’t help but mention her “magic fingers”—though she also uses her arms, her whole body even to relieve us of those myofascial blockages. She teaches us to recognize how pain develops and radiates to other areas of our bodies, and, too, how we can use this knowledge to resolve that pain by simple movements at home. She’s a 5 Star physical therapist. Less
