I could go on and on about how positive our experience was with Carbon Financial, but the biggest reason we’re so grateful is our loan officer, Tom.Tom went above and beyond helping us purchase our home. When I first saw the numbers, I honestly didn’t think we could possibly make it work. We had a lengthy and complicated process getting a VA loan as an unmarried couple, and figuring out the down payment felt like an almost impossible hurdle.Tom never made us feel like it was impossible. He was always available to help us work through the numbers, talk through different options and come up with plans to get us there. We would come up with a plan, realize we needed to modify it, come up with another plan and modify that one too. He patiently walked us through every change and helped us figure out how we could use our available funds and seller credits so that every dollar could help toward our down payment. There were so many ups and downs, but Tom continued to encourage us and help us find a way forward until, somehow, we finally had enough to make it happen.Our situation was also very unique. We purchased my grandparents’ home directly from the family trust, which meant there were additional questions and responsibilities involved for my aunt, who was serving as the trustee. Tom didn’t just make himself available to us — he also took the time to speak with my aunt, answer her questions and help make sure she understood her responsibilities and felt comfortable with the process of selling the property to her niece. That meant so much to our family.And even after we closed, Carbon Financial continued to go above and beyond. We received a call from one of Tom’s team members who is available to help new homeowners navigate all the things that come with buying a home for the first time — from understanding payments and property-tax exemptions to answering all those random questions that inevitably come up after closing. I found Tom through realtor Jenn Tackney, and I honestly can't recommend him enough. I first connected with Tom about a year ago while dealing with a stressful situation involving a family home I inherited after my parents passed away. Mr. McMurray and his team at Karbon just helped my mother complete her refinancing. I cannot say enough about the smooth process for her and the follow up that has followed. She is older, was a bit nervous but she was so happy that it went so smooth. Tom gave great options, answered any and all questions, and was fantastic to work with. His team was exactly the same way.
