Unprofessional, Disorganized, and a Complete Waste of My TimeMy experience with Gulf Coast Shutters was exceptionally disappointing. I invited their representative, Jayme, to my home in New Orleans to discuss exterior shutters and several additional home improvement projects. What followed was an unnecessarily lengthy appointment, poor communication, missed commitments, and ultimately a complete lack of follow-through.Jayme spent nearly two hours at my home, during which she asked to see numerous rooms throughout the house. Although I accommodated her requests, I was uncomfortable with how extensively she wanted to tour my home, particularly given the nature of the work being discussed.Following the appointment, at her request, I provided photographs and an extremely detailed, phase-by-phase written summary of the projects we had discussed, including their respective priorities. I invested considerable additional time organizing this information because she had represented that Gulf Coast Shutters could assist with multiple aspects of the renovations.Unfortunately, that level of cooperation was not reciprocated.Despite having all the information she requested, Jayme failed to provide a timely estimate. On Friday, September 11, she informed me that my shutter quote was ready and would be sent “shortly.” It did not arrive until Tuesday, September 15. By then, I had already committed to another company. To make matters worse, Gulf Coast Shutters’ estimate was the highest of the three estimates I obtained, including those from LAS and Cool Vue.I subsequently followed up regarding the gas lantern installation and storm doors we had specifically discussed. Rather than providing the requested estimates or meaningful assistance, she directed me to a gas lantern retailer I had already contacted, apparently overlooking the fact that I needed an installer, not a retailer. I clarified this and again requested the outstanding information. My messages went unanswered.What makes this experience particularly frustrating is the extraordinary disparity between the time and information requested of me and the minimal effort demonstrated in return. I made my home available, accommodated an extensive appointment, provided photographs, and prepared a comprehensive written project outline. In exchange, I received a delayed, comparatively expensive shutter quote, no estimates for the other projects, and eventually silence.Professionalism is not measured by how long a sales representative spends in a customer’s home or how many potential projects she discusses. It is measured by respecting the customer’s time, honoring commitments, communicating effectively, and delivering what was promised. Gulf Coast Shutters failed on each of those measures in my experience.I cannot speak to the quality of their finished products because their handling of the preliminary consultation and estimating process gave me no confidence in entrusting them with the actual work. I would not recommend this company based on my experience.

Gulf Coast Shutters did an amazing job. Everyone is friendly and professional and know customer service. Very satisfied with the product, installation, and overall quality experience. Would highly recommend them if you’re looking at shutters.
